7 For All Mankind Spring 2027: The Attitude Is Everything

Nicola Brognano's 7 For All Mankind show is indie sleaze styling with denim at the center. Skinny scarves appeared in the large majority of looks, and the attitude does more work than any single piece.

Office siren, then the jeans

You know those TikTok videos where an influencer who has barely seen an office gives you siren-inspired workwear advice, with a suit vest, no shirt, and a stack of costume pearls swinging around the neck. People in the comments say you could never dress like that at work. Nicola Brognano at 7 For All Mankind is confident you should, and I am on his side.

What I took from the show is that indie sleaze is less about individual pieces and more about styling, with denim at the center. His muse, he said, is "a party girl" who wants to wear everything she likes. Skinny scarves appeared in the large majority of looks, so even the denim is never alone.

Kate Moss in the early 2000s is his reference, and the revival was proudly ultratight and ultra-low-rise. So let's start with the jeans.

Jackets that mean it

The jackets are the easiest way to wear this without going full costume. Cropped trench coats were worn over the denim, and a shrunken or puff-sleeve trucker can do the same job at a more everyday level.

The lesson, as Brognano put it, is that "you can wear denim and a tank top, but the attitude is the thing that defines you." I think that is true of any good jacket: it only works when you wear it as if you meant it.

Bags were in most looks, and they were part of that careless, carried-everywhere energy. Knee-high boots turned up in only a handful of looks, so they felt like a special guest rather than a rule.

Short, silky and unbothered

The biggest revival, to my eye, was the menswear-inspired printed silk scarf, and its rock-and-roll messiness is what makes the minis work. Ruffled slip dresses were paired with those scarves, and the result felt picture-perfectly disheveled.

A bow mini dress, a satin black one with a cinched hem, and a suede cherry miniskirt all fit that spirit of dressing up and then messing it up. Shorts turned up in about a third of the looks, and they were very short, so the minis never felt like the only short thing in the room. These pieces are not meant to be neat, and that is why I like them.

Jeans, a scarf, shoes off

If I could borrow one look, it would be a pair of low, tight jeans, a printed silk scarf knotted at the neck, and a jacket worn as if I meant it. Sunglasses were in most looks, and I would keep mine on all day, hungover glamour included.

The thing I remember most is the model who kicked off her shoes. It is the most indie sleaze gesture of the whole show, and it says what Brognano said better than any rule could. Wear what you like, mix it with a nice taste, and let the attitude finish the outfit.
