A practical romantic dresses up for a date and then wears the same dress again on Saturday. I look for one thing before anything else, which is whether it still works with flats and a denim jacket. The Self Portrait bow lace mini passes that test, and so does the ROCOCO SAND lace mini in cream, which is soft enough for dinner and easy enough for brunch.

 

Sequins are my shortcut to romance without a lot of fuss. The Bailey Rose midi and the SIMONMILLER Fountain dress in amethyst both catch the light and need only a small bag. When I want something quieter I go for the GANNI satin mini with its lace edge, or the A.L.C. Ivana in a deep wine, which has long sleeves and a wrap skirt that moves well. A BARDOT mini in dusty pink is the one I would pack for a weekend away.
