Aniye Records Tops: The Pieces Worth a Look

Aniye Records Tops: The Pieces Worth a Look

Aniye Records is the Milan label that turns rock references into dark, romantic womenswear, with lace, ruffles and sharp tailoring. I like it for the nights when I want a little backstage in my outfit, and this edit starts with the tops and dresses.

A Carpi designer builds a rock wardrobe

I have always wanted a closet that sounds like a record collection, and Aniye Records is the nearest thing I have found to one. Alessandra Marchi grew up close to the Italian fashion business, with a father and uncle who owned the Liu Jo group, and in 2000 she started Aniye By in Carpi with rock-inspired clothes for women who wanted something outside the usual. Aniye Records came later as a sister label and made its first Milan Fashion Week appearance with an autumn/winter 2022 collection.

That debut was a stage-minded collision of 1970s glam, leather, sequins, lace and faux fur, with Marchi looking to the transforming power of rock icons. The clothes work through contrast: a ruffle beside a sharp line, a sheer layer with a harder surface, femininity with volume and attitude. Marchi is still the creative lead, and music is the pulse I hear through all of it.

Blouses with a backstage streak

The tops are where I see the push and pull between softness and structure most clearly. The Pen Blouse and the Mimi Ruff Top are the fluid, romantic ones, while the Tea Bustier Top, the Len Bustier Top and the Nilde Bustier Top are fitted and unapologetic. The Tecla Wrap Top feels adjustable and easy, and the Gaby Shirt and the Nilde Chemisette Top borrow from classic shirting before the Mabel Ruffle Top and the Ruth Heart Top add a little drama. The Dafne Bodysuit and the Tamara Blouse round out the row.

In my fashion dreams, the Tea Bustier Top meets a clean trouser and a strong shoe, like a backstage look that can still make it to dinner. I would decide first whether I want a defined shape or a softer layer, then keep the rest of the outfit quieter than the top. What I would skip is wearing a ruffle and a bustier at the same time.

Dresses for the last song of the night

Aniye Records treats a dress as its own small performance. The Zelda Chain Dress and the Zelda Band Dress share a name and two very different moods, while the Pen Mini Dress, the Gaby Ruffle Dress and the Perla Mini Dress are shorter with a softer edge. The Mellory Slip Dress is the quiet one in the group, and for a longer line the Heren Long Dress and the Ottha Long Dress are the pieces I would save for a night when the silhouette should carry the whole look.

Picture her walking into a small venue in the Ottha Long Dress, a leather jacket over one shoulder and no extra fuss. My styling note is to pick one point of focus, chain, band or ruffle, and skip the competing accessories. The drama should feel like yours, not borrowed.

A look with its own soundtrack

What keeps Aniye Records interesting to me is its willingness to put the opposites in one frame: lace and leather, polish and roughness, romance and rock. Marchi's earlier work at Aniye By gives the newer label a longer design lineage, but Records has a stage-minded identity of its own.

I would wear one of these pieces when the plan calls for more personality than polish, then make the rest of the look familiar enough to move in. Although I suspect the best outfit here is simply the one that sounds like your own song.
