ASHA by Ashley McCormick

ASHA by Ashley McCormick began in 2005 as a sketch the founder made while she was still in college, and her first pieces were designed with a Parisian goldsmith during her studies at La Sorbonne. The jewelry draws on art, architecture and world travel, with mother-of-pearl and semi-precious stones that sit between fine and fashion jewelry. This edit brings together her flower and shell earrings, clover charms and a mother-of-pearl cuff.

Flower and shell earrings

The earrings are where ASHA feels most like its founder. Flowers in gold and pearl, scallop shells in mother-of-pearl and small studs edged with stones all lean toward the botanical and the architectural, which are the references the brand says it draws on. They are light enough to wear daily and special enough that nobody will ask whether they are real. I would pair the shell studs with a white shirt and nothing else.

Clovers, shells and a cuff

The charms are the most playful pieces, a four leaf clover set with green and pink stones and a large carved shell pendant. The twisted gold cuff with a mother-of-pearl shell is the statement piece of the group. Wear one big piece at a time and keep the rest of your jewelry quiet.

Charms to collect and wear

Here the shells and flowers get bigger and a little more playful. A pink scallop charm, a pavé clover with a deep blue stone, a woven basket and a cowrie flower pendant all sit on the same chain. A rattan nautilus earring, a mother of pearl flower ring and a pair of diamond flower studs round out a small collection of seaside keepsakes.

How I would wear it

Start with a pair of earrings you will put on every morning, then add one charm on a chain when you want the outfit to say something. ASHA was built to bridge fine and fashion jewelry, and it works best worn that casually. When I want to build around ASHA's easy fine-and-fashion mix, I look at rings and necklaces with room for a story.
