Beata Heuman Shoppa, a home collection shaped by her studio

Shoppa is Beata Heuman's own collection of homewares and furnishings from her London studio. Born in Sweden, she established the practice in 2013, and the studio describes its work through a balanced use of colour, clean lines and imaginative details.

Her book Every Room Should Sing was published in March 2021, followed by a 20-lesson BBC Maestro interior design course in January 2025. The Frame Chair won Best Furniture Design at the 2022 Homes & Gardens Design Awards, and the studio lists her in Architectural Digest U.S.'s 2026 AD100. I love how that imagination carries from her rooms into pieces made for daily life.

How Beata Heuman layers textiles, light and furniture

Beata Heuman's Shoppa collection lends itself to fall and winter through quilted bedding, patterned cushions, tactile rugs and sculptural lighting. I would start with the Durham quilts, then bring in a cushion cover and one warm source of light.

Her family's holiday house in southern Sweden is an eighteenth-century home on the farm where she grew up. The studio says the Frame Sofa and New Wave Country Sofa were first made for that house and are now part of Shoppa, which gives the furniture a personal origin.

Where I would start with Beata Heuman's style

I would begin with a Durham Quilt Dusk, then let one source of light set the mood. The Frame Chair is the furniture piece I would keep in view for its clear outline. Leave enough room around those pieces for the details to sing.
