A self-taught designer builds Romanek Design Studio in Los Angeles

Brigette Romanek founded Romanek Design Studio in Los Angeles in 2018, with a practice spanning interiors and product design. She taught herself design and is a seven-time Architectural Digest AD100 honoree, a two-time Wallpaper 400 honoree, and a 2026 Elle Decor Legend.

Her clients include Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyoncé, Demi Moore, Christian Bale, Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland, Molly Sims, and Rachel Zoe. Livable Luxe arrived in October 2023 with a foreword by Paltrow, and I love how its title fits the polished, lived-in rooms she creates.

Romanek's Crate & Barrel, Loloi, and Joss & Main selections

Her Crate & Barrel collaboration spans 54 designs with a Southern California feel, and its palette draws on California light and sunsets. For Loloi, she describes rugs as room anchors and the Madi designs as modern geometric patterns in saturated natural tones.

The new Loloi season includes three rugs and 19 pillows, while Joss & Main's inaugural Designer Collective featured 30 fall pieces she selected. I would start with one of her chosen seats, then layer in a patterned rug, a lamp, and a tabletop detail.

Where I would start with Brigette Romanek's style

I would start with a Lovatt sofa and a Madi rug, then give the room time to collect its own stories. Keep the last layer personal and let a few unexpected shapes sit together. That balance of polish, play, and comfort is what I would bring home for fall and winter.
