Bronx and Banco Gowns and Tailoring

Bronx and Banco launched in 2009 as an Australian label founded by Natalie De'Banco, who opened her first boutique at Bondi Beach in Sydney. Her signature is cutting-edge style, vibrant hues and slick tailoring, and the brand is known for show-stopping gowns and cocktail dresses with intricate lace. This edit gathers feather-hem gowns, sequin and velvet minis, floral appliqué dresses, a cropped blazer and croc-embossed faux-leather pieces.

A collage of dramatic occasion dresses, feathered minis, metallic gowns, and runway looks.

Feathers, florals and statement dresses

Bronx and Banco began in 2009 as an Australian label, founded by Natalie De'Banco, who has European roots and an Australian upbringing. The story I love is the first boutique, which she opened at Bondi Beach in Sydney while she was still studying design at Enmore Design School. The original idea was classic clothing for the Australian career girl, something that could go from day to night with a designer heel. Today the brand is based in New York, with teams in New York, Hong Kong and Sydney, and its signature is cutting-edge style, vibrant hues and slick tailoring. You see all three in the first group. The geisha maxi dress, the halter neck feather-hem chiffon gown and the silk and faux-fur self-belt gown are the showiest pieces, and the Veronica strapless floral sequin column gown is the polished one. For minis, the Bouquet Maraya floral appliqué and the embroidered illusion version are the romantic pair, while the sequined floral long-sleeve mini and the embellished velvet fit and flare strapless mini are made for a party. The Eden pleated floral-embroidered midi is for slightly softer evenings. If you are looking for more ideas for beaded minis and motifs, that is where I would look next.

Sequins, velvet and feather trim

The second group is the label at its most glamorous. Bronx and Banco is known for show-stopping gowns and cocktail dresses with intricate lace and rich fabrics, and the numbers here prove it. The Dahlia strapless embroidered sequin gown and the Dahlia sequin floral column gown are the long, narrow ones, the Ibiza ombre gown is the colorful one, and the velvet feather trim slit gown and the short sleeve velvet maxi with feather trim are made for winter. The Arielle floral embroidered sleeveless gown is more formal. For minis, the long sleeve sequin mini, the Tessa deep V-neck sequin mini and the Chloe sequined floral strapless mini all lean toward the dance floor, while the Madeline diamond mini and the Camila cutout mini are cleaner. The Mademoiselle beaded feather-trim mini is a good example of how the house adds fun without going overboard. I would match these to a full glam night or a cocktail party. What I would skip is wearing the feather trim dresses to a seated dinner where you will lean on tables all night, since the trim will get in the way.

Tailoring, croc and tweed

The brand's slick tailoring takes a different form in the third group. The Kacey cropped blazer is the sharp piece, and the croc-embossed faux-leather belted jacket and matching shorts are the bolder ones. The tweed pleated mini skirt, the sequin micro shorts and the Bella skirt are the smaller bottoms, and the Nomad embellished set and the Eleanor bodysuit round it out. De'Banco also designs outerwear in bold colors, so I would treat the croc pieces as a statement. A fall skirt with a bodysuit is a quick way to dress up without a full dress. Spring Summer 2026, called Concrete Safari, was inspired by her love of animals and the grit of New York, which makes the croc embossing feel at home here.

Skorts, bodysuits and a diamond chain

The last four pieces are the unexpected ones. The Blair skort, the long sleeve bodysuit with faux fur cuffs and the tweed cropped jacket with feather cuffs are the separates, and the silky halterneck gown with a diamond chain is the one for dressing up. The tweed jacket is the one I would put over a simple dress, and an oversized blazer shows another way to approach the same idea. The skort is the practical choice when you want the polish of a skirt and the freedom of shorts, and it pairs well with the bodysuit for a short outfit that still feels dressed. What I would not do is double up on trim, so keep the feather cuffs and the faux fur cuffs on separate days. Picture her arriving in the halterneck gown with the diamond chain catching the light.

How I would wear it

I would build around one dress and one jacket. A feathered mini with the Kacey blazer, or a sequin gown with a plain pair of heels. Natalie De'Banco's idea was a day-to-night dress, and the brand has grown from a Bondi Beach boutique into stockists in over 15 countries, so the same instinct still runs through the label: strong color, sharp tailoring and a bit of glamour.
