Casa Clara Jewelry: How to Choose a Statement Piece

Casa Clara Jewelry: How to Choose a Statement Piece

Casa Clara is a jewelry and accessories label from Oceanside, California, made by two friends who love color and travel. I think jewelry should hold a small memory, so this edit is my pick of the pieces that do.

The friends behind Casa Clara

I am always drawn to labels that look like two friends having the same idea, and Casa Clara is exactly that. Lauren and Pauline started it in 2017 and still own and run it together, after working side by side in fashion. The base is Oceanside, California, which fits the easy, sun-warmed mood of everything it makes.

Their palette comes from travel, landscape and feeling, and they think of accessories as the way to bring color to a simple wardrobe. A trip to Mexico led to a long partnership with a maker family, and the label's Our Story page says the pieces are made with artisans in Mexico and Indonesia.

I think of Casa Clara as a souvenir drawer translated into things you can wear: gold hoops, a bright clip, a scarf you can pack without ceremony. The best pieces feel like a small memory, not a shopping list.

Jewelry with a little color in it

Casa Clara treats jewelry as the place where color gets to speak. I would start with the Mahina Earrings or Emilia Statement Earrings when a plain outfit needs one focal point. The Rove Stud Earrings are the smaller, calmer option, and the Terada Necklace and Aquarius Beaded Necklace bring in turquoise. I went deeper on a related idea in Rings, Necklaces, and Statement Jewelry.

Picture her at a seaside lunch with the Terada Necklace over a white tank, or the Beau Hoops with a black blazer and denim. My tip is to choose one bright or beaded focal point and keep everything else quiet. What I would skip is stacking statement earrings on top of each other. If your everyday earrings already pull attention, try the smaller studs instead.

The little things for the way out

The accessories stretch into the useful end of an imaginary travel bag. The Lagoon Hat gives an outfit a sun-ready anchor, the Kit Tote Bag carries the day, and the Darcy Bandana or Silky Headscarf can break up a plain look. The Nora Hand Knit Headscarf adds texture, the Alex Clip brings a little color near the face, and the Remi Slide takes the relaxed mood down to the feet.

Picture her walking down to the water in the Lagoon Hat, with the Darcy Bandana tucked into the Kit Tote Bag for later. If I want to change a simple outfit, I start with the scarf or the hat. The Nash Keychain is the easy keepsake, a small extra and never the main event.

When I shop accessories, I would rather pick one thing that carries a story than a handful that all ask for attention. Casa Clara makes its best case when gold basics sit beside one odd, bright detail: a clip, a scarf, a bead or a straw bag. I would choose the piece I can imagine taking on a trip, or wearing with a white tee at home. That is my test for an accessory worth keeping. Although the keychain is hard to argue with.
