Slouchy Shoulder Bags: Soft Designer Bags Replacing Structure
The soft, slouchy shoulder bags replacing structure: 40 designer styles from Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Chloé.

Sunglasses Under $500: Frames Sorted By Shape
Sunglasses under $500 are a very good place to be opinionated because the frame, not the logo, determines whether they earn daily wear. I start with the shape that balances the face, then look at the bridge, the arm width and the visual weight of the lens. Square and rectangular

Belted Coats: Leather Belted Jackets and Fall Outerwear
Why the belted coat is the fall silhouette: 40 belted coats and jackets from Loro Piana, Alaïa, Moncler and Gucci.

Secondhand Gucci Marmont, Ophidia And Soho Bags
Gucci runs three handbag lines side by side, and the secondhand market prices them by material, not by prestige.

Transitional Jackets For Cool Days
The hardest jacket to own is the one for the weeks when a coat is too much and a sweater is not enough.

Sanderlak Jeans and Outerwear
Sanderlak is the second act of one of the most missed labels of the last decade.

FRANÇOISE: Johanna Senyk's Paris Label of Deadstock Silk
Francoise is Johanna Senyk's most personal project after years spent working for other people's houses. The self-taught Paris designer, previously behind the cult label Wanda Nylon, has collaborated with Alexander McQueen, JW Anderson and The Row and dressed Beyonce, Rihanna and Taylor Swift. Her own label is made in Paris from couture deadstock and vintage fabric, which means most of what you see here effectively cannot be reordered. It's a personal favorite and items you pass down as heirlooms

DARKPARK: Inna Gerchikov's Wide-Leg Pants and Cashmere Tops
Darkpark exists because Inna Gerchikov could not find a pair of jeans she wanted to wear. She spent fifteen years importing Californian denim into Italy, then founded the label in Milan in 2021 with Maurizio Purificato, the Antonia co-founder behind Khrisjoy. It is luxury denim made in the Veneto and worked to precision

Slip Dresses
The slip dress has survived every attempt to retire it. It arrived from lingerie in the nineties, got written off as a costume, and came back as the default answer to almost every dress code that is not explicitly formal.

La Veste
The brand began with two friends walking to a show during Paris Fashion Week deciding, more or less on the spot, to start a brand. Stylist Blanca Miro and designer Maria de la Orden founded it in 2018 and named it after the French word for blazer, because at first that was all they intended to make. It is now the most recognisable of the new Spanish labels and still runs on the same instinct.

Meridian Swimwear Swimwear
Sisters Jordan LaGuardia and Terese Ostendorf LaGuardia launched Meridian Swimwear out of Brooklyn in 2022, bringing backgrounds in art direction and luxury womenswear design, including Terese's work at the label LESET, to a category they felt was missing their own point of view. The brand describes its look as relaxed minimalism crossed with retro nostalgia, filtered through the New York City sensibility where both sisters started their fashion careers.

Studio Amelia Shoes
Emily Amelia Inglis founded Studio Amelia in Sydney in 2019 after struggling to find a flat sandal that was neither too relaxed nor too dressy, and deciding to design her own. The debut collection launched with just four sandal styles in four colorways, and was an instant hit

Déhanche
Erin Webb, a California native who had already spent fourteen years in Paris and co-founded the outerwear label Nour Hammour, launched Déhanche in March 2022 with four belt styles. The name is French for the asymmetrical hip tilt seen in ancient Greek statues, and Webb designs each buckle like a piece of jewelry, cast-moulded rather than stamped, made in Italy to a specification she spent a year perfecting.

Jade Ruzzo Jewelry
Jade Ruzzo launched her eponymous fine jewelry line in New York in 2022, after a decade working at Conde Nast titles and as a personal stylist. The specific thing that drives the collection is family: pieces are named for and inspired by her late father Vic, a drummer, and her daughter Gloria, born in 2019, with the Percussion collection built directly around his cymbals and drum motifs.
Rene Barnes Jewelry
Rene Barnes launched her eponymous fine jewelry line in May 2022, working out of Charleston, South Carolina, with pieces cast in New York City. Every design starts with Barnes hand-sculpting wax herself before it goes through lost-wax casting, so the resulting pieces keep a slightly irregular, hand-carved quality rather than a machine-perfect finish.

Erdem Dresses and Knitwear
Erdem Moralioglu, a Royal College of Art graduate raised in Montreal, founded his eponymous London label in 2005 after a debut at Fashion Fringe won him prize money and a Harrods order. The house has spent two decades refining a very specific idea of femininity: sweeping, floral, historically literate, never literal about it.

House of Dagmar Clothing: Stockholm Knitwear, Shirting, Dresses
Three sisters, Karin Söderlind, Kristina Tjäder and Sofia Wallenstam, founded House of Dagmar in Stockholm in 2005, naming it after their grandmother, a tailor whose craftsmanship shaped their sense of quality. The label built its name on knitwear and clean tailoring that pairs Scandinavian minimalism with a genuine trend instinct, an early adopter of sustainability within Swedish fashion.

Stephanie Windsor Jewelry
Stephanie Windsor, born Stephanie Levy in Montreal, moved to Manhattan in 1987 and got her start working for Norma Kamali at the height of Kamali's 1980s run before later co-chairing design marketing at Parsons. She went on to run her own accessories showroom and was tapped to exclusively curate Barneys New York's antique and vintage fine jewelry and pre-owned watches, a role that shaped the eye behind her own label spanning Georgian through Art Deco periods.

Renato Cipullo Jewelry
Renato Cipullo was born in Naples and grew up in Rome in a family of jewelers, later opening a boutique on Ischia in 1967 before settling in New York, where his brother Aldo designed Cartier's Love bracelet. He launched his own jewelry collection in 1974, drawing on years spent by the sea for motifs in shell, coral and gold that still recur in his work.

KATKIM Jewelry
Katherine Kim launched KATKIM in New York in the fall of 2015 after training in graphic design in Pasadena and then jewelry at Central Saint Martins in London and the Fashion Institute of Technology. The brand is built around a single idea she developed at her kitchen table, the Ear Pin, a slim gold spear that threads through the piercing and locks behind the ear, since multiplied into diamond-paved and petite versions.

Ulla Johnson Dresses
Ulla Johnson grew up in Manhattan as the daughter of two archaeologists and launched her eponymous label in New York at the end of the 1990s, right after studying psychology and women's studies rather than fashion at the University of Michigan. Barneys New York bought her collection in 2000, and the label has since built its identity on natural fibers and craft techniques developed with artisan communities in countries including Peru, India and Kenya.

Flore Flore
Flòrian van Zuilen launched Flore Flore out of Amsterdam in the summer of 2021, after years working in fashion roles that took her from New York to Copenhagen. The label exists to solve one specific problem, the cotton basic that actually fits, and its team reportedly ran more than eighty fittings over about eight months just to finalize the proportions of its original T-shirt styles.

Comme Si
Jenni Lee started Comme Si in New York in 2019 after leaving her marketing job at the shaving startup Harry's, unable to find a sock she considered both beautiful and responsibly made. The label is built on that one overlooked category: Italian-milled cotton, merino, cashmere and silk socks finished with a loop tab that regular wearers learned to spot on each other, a foundation the brand has since built out into all of the categories

Ben-Amun
Isaac Manevitz, an Egyptian-born designer who had worked for costume houses like Trifari, started Ben-Amun in New York in 1980, naming it for his eldest son and the pharaoh Tutankhamun. The brand never pretended to be fine jewelry: it built its name on hand-finished pieces in electroplated gold, Czech glass and Majorca pearls, made to photograph and move like the real thing, which is exactly what got a Ben-Amun cuff onto Jackie Kennedy Onassis's wrist in 1989.
