Chanel says it was introduced in 2025 and leans on the house's numerology, so the name is simply the year, the next number after the 19 and the 22. That is a very easy name to remember.

The Chanel 25 mini is the version I keep circling back to. The house describes the whole line as two signature pockets and a supple, hobo-inspired shape, with quilted leather, a leather-interlaced chain and the double C. The mini keeps all of that at 20 by 22 by 12.5 centimeters, which makes it the smallest of four sizes, with the small, medium and large above it. Chanel built its 2026 campaign around the mini, with Margot Robbie meeting every version of herself on a Paris street, and I understand why.

Start with black, because it is the easiest way in. Two of the pre-owned black caviar minis, one in excellent condition and one pristine at 9 inches wide, are the straightforward choice. The quilted calfskin mini is a touch narrower at 8.5 inches. The tweed one, 9 inches wide and 4.5 deep, is the softest looking in the row, and I would wear it with a gray knit and straight jeans in October. The black denim mini is the casual one, and the little velvet effect clutch with chain is the dressy outlier. The black caviar mini with antique gold hardware, listed with its Chanel box and dust bag, is the one I would look at twice.

Everything here is pre-owned, so check the corners, the chain drawstring, the leather strap and the hardware, and ask for papers or a date code before you decide.

Measure before you fall for a color: the mini is only 20 centimeters across, so a bright one reads as an accent, not a statement coat. That is the whole appeal of this row.

The two blue denim minis are the ones I would wear daily, one in great condition and one pristine at 9 inches wide. They look right with a white tee and a gray cardigan, and the denim is what keeps a quilted Chanel from feeling precious. The brown pony hair mini, 10.5 inches wide, is the wintry one, and I would put it with a camel coat and black tights. The white caviar mini is the clean option for a dark outfit.

Then the pastels: light green, light pink and yellow caviar, each with a gold chain strap and the drawstring front. The red caviar is the loud one, listed as giftable. Chanel's own campaign copy lists a long palette for the mini, including pink, light green and dark orange, so a color is not a risk.

Test: look at the quilting from a step back, and make sure the pale ones are even and not marked along the edges, since light caviar shows wear first. What I would skip: the yellow if your coats are mostly navy and black, because it asks for more thought than the others.

The small is where most people actually begin. At 30 by 26 by 14 centimeters, it has room for the things a mini leaves at home, and Who What Wear notes each size has a belted strap that adjusts the size of the opening. That detail is worth testing in hand.

The black caviar small in excellent condition is the plain, sure choice. The brown one measures 10.5 inches wide and 11.5 high, a warm color I would wear with cream knits and dark denim. The pristine gray caviar and the light gray one are my quiet favorites, and both sit well against black coats. Another black small with aged gold hardware comes with the details listed: caviar leather, made in France, a drawstring closure, two interior slip pockets and two exterior side pockets.

The washed denim small runway bucket hobo, in light blue with gold hardware, is the lightest looking in the row. The pink caviar and the blue quilted denim round it out.

What I would skip: the good condition black if you plan to carry it every day. Look at the base corners and the chain first, and pick the pristine gray instead.

A medium works like a tote with manners. Marie Claire describes the 25 as a trapezoid with an outer pocket on each side, trimmed with gold double-C hardware, and that shape is easy to see on the medium. It is the one for a laptop day or a weekend away in October.

Four of these are black: a caviar, a shiny crumpled calfskin, a suede, and a second caviar, all in great condition. I would take the suede for fall, with wide trousers and a gray coat. The shiny crumpled calfskin catches light and looks good with plain knits. The pristine blue denim medium, 12 inches wide and 15.5 high, is the casual one, and I would pair it with a striped shirt and straight jeans.

There is also a very good condition black caviar at 11.5 inches long, with minor signs of wear, and a tan brown caviar leather bag with goldtone hardware and two side pockets, made in Italy in 2025. Brown is my choice if your wardrobe is camel and cream.

Test: load it with what you carry and check the drawstring still pulls cleanly and the straps do not look stretched.

This row is mostly black and mostly medium, which is the point. If you know you want a roomy black Chanel 25, here are the options, each pre-owned and each with its own condition notes.

Two have the quilted shiny crumpled calfskin, one excellent and one very good, and the others are quilted caviar. Two matching caviar mediums, both excellent, have the gold chain strap and the drawstring front. The pristine black denim medium is 12 inches wide and 15.5 high, and I would use it over a long coat with boots. The black caviar calfskin with gold hardware is 11.4 by 11 by 6 inches, a little deeper than the others.

The small black suede is the odd one out, with gold hardware and excellent condition. Suede suits October, and I would keep it for dry days and carry a soft brush. It is also the only small here, so it is the one to choose if the medium looks like too much bag. Put it with a gray coat and a wool skirt and it needs nothing else.

What I would skip: buying two near identical bags. Compare the photos for the chain, the stitching and the corners, then choose the one with the cleanest condition.

I would start small, with the black caviar mini in pristine condition, then add a color if I wanted one. It is the version Chanel itself is putting forward right now, and it fits a phone, a card case and lip balm without fuss.

If you carry more, go for the small in gray. If you need a laptop, the medium. Whichever you choose, ask for the box, the dust bag and the date code, and look hard at the chain.
