Charo Ruiz Ibiza is a family-run label of lace, embroidery and airy dresses made for island light. I have a soft spot for clothes that ask you to slow down, so this edit starts with the dresses and works outward.

Charo Ruiz Ibiza Dresses: Lace, Print and Island Ease
Who gave Ibiza its own dress language
I have always thought of Ibiza as a place where clothes can take a breath, and Charo Ruiz is the designer who gave that feeling a wardrobe. She grew up in Seville among fabrics and patterns, spent a spell modelling in Barcelona and then built her atelier and showroom on the island in 1989. Her own history comes back to femininity, freedom and respect for the island's traditions, and I find that more convincing than any summer trend.
It is still an independent family business, now led by her children Pablo and Paloma, and more than sixty collections later the language is easy to spot: airy fabrics, embroidery, lace and shapes that move in warm weather. A Charo Ruiz dress is a small invitation to slow down, let the fabric work and dress for the light (which is more than most beach dresses ask of me). I went deeper on a related idea in Best Lace Dresses.

Dresses made for long summer days
Dresses are where the Charo Ruiz language is easiest to read. The Crissy Long Dress carries a cream botanic print into a longer shape, while the Sunil Short Dress is a pink, more celebratory version at a shorter length. The Rosario Long Dress in white is the quiet one, and it is the pick when I want the lace and embroidery to lead. For a little more detail, the Jimena belted tiered polka-dot cotton-blend voile maxi dress and the Rosela floral-print cotton-blend mini dress are happy to be noticed. If you want to keep going, Carine Gilson Dresses: Lace Incrustation on Silk Satin is the one I would read next.
Picture her leaving a late lunch in the Rosario Long Dress, a basket bag in one hand and flat sandals for the walk home. What I would skip: a second busy layer. Let a patterned dress stand on its own and choose simple shoes so the detail stays readable.

Tops with a little island romance
I like the tops as a way to bring Charo Ruiz's detail into things I already own. The Isis Bodysuit is a close-fitting base for a high-waisted skirt or trouser, and the Bustier Bio Top puts a blue botanic print right up front. The Elvira Blouse in black is the darker, more evening-minded one, and it keeps the same soft, feminine mood.
In my fashion dreams she takes the Bustier Bio Top to dinner with plain black trousers and one gold earring. I would keep the bottom half quiet when the top is printed, and save a more intricate skirt for the simpler Isis Bodysuit.

Skirts and trousers that set the mood
This is the case for building an outfit around one strong piece. The Long Skirt Ventine brings in the blue botanic print, and the Naia Skirt in black is the calmer one I could repeat all summer. The Marita Short Short Skirt changes the proportion for a warm evening, and the Lior Trouser gives the group a more tailored line.
Picture her in the Naia Skirt with a white blouse for a small seaside dinner, then in the Lior Trouser when the night wants a cleaner silhouette. My rule is to choose either the print or the texture as the star, never both, and to let the black pieces take on the lace or embroidery without making the whole outfit busy.

A point of view that belongs to the island
What keeps me interested is how Charo Ruiz carries a specific place into clothes without making them feel like souvenirs. The lace, embroidery and easy shapes come from an island wardrobe, but they still leave room for the person wearing them to set the tone. I would start with the dress that feels most like your own summer, then let a skirt or top bring that softness into the rest of the week. Although I suspect the dress will end up leading the rest anyway.
