A men's edit of soft everyday tees, from plain black crews and pocket tees to washed colors and stripes. It is for anyone who wants a tee that gets better with every wash.

A good tee is the piece you stop thinking about, and that is the whole point. I want a crew that hangs right on the shoulders, is soft after a couple of washes and does not go see-through under the sun. The Marine Layer Signature Crew and the Rhone Atmosphere Tee are the two I would grab first for a plain black one, and Lacoste makes the version that looks a little sharper with chinos.

 

When I want color, I go quiet: a sage Columbia tee, a coral Toadandco crew, or the olive Obey pigment tee that already looks lived in. A Ted Baker striped tee dresses up with trousers, while a Quince pocket tee is the one I would wear with jeans and nothing else. Check the neckline and the hem first, because those give out before the fabric does.
