Costarellos Athens is the label Christos Costarellos launched in 1998, built around eveningwear in lace and drape. I look at the crystal-embellished minis, the lace-trimmed midis and the gowns that carry the label's drama.

Costarellos Athens: Lace, Drape and Controlled Eveningwear
Greek Drama, Modern Cut
Costarellos makes eveningwear with a costume designer’s eye for entrance and silhouette. Christos Costarellos launched his namesake house in Athens in 1998 after studying fashion and theatre costume design at the London College of Fashion. Lace, tulle, velvet and crystal are used to shape the body rather than simply decorate it.

Our honest take
Our honest take is that Costarellos is for occasions that deserve a little architecture. The collection is too specific for casual wardrobe filler, but the best gowns have enough discipline to return for more than one photograph. If you take one thing away, choose the dress whose line still feels convincing when the embellishment is viewed from across the room.
