DAYDREAMER Graphic Tees: What to Know Before You Buy

DAYDREAMER Graphic Tees: What to Know Before You Buy

DAYDREAMER is the Los Angeles label that turns rock and roll memories into vintage-feeling graphic tees and sweatshirts. I have a weakness for a shirt with a story, so this edit was easy to fall for.

A graphic tee with a story behind it

I will admit that I judge people a little by their favorite old T-shirt, which is probably why DAYDREAMER got me. Laura Glover grew up in Chicago and moved to Los Angeles to design clothes, and in 2013 she started the label with her love of rock and roll as the starting point. It is based in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District, and early on the tees were made locally from vintage finds and band references. I went deeper on a related idea in Ex-Boyfriends Tee: Oversized Graphic Vintage Tees Worn as Dresses.

Her own story talks about graphics that carry legends, memories and ideas, with music as the thread through all of it. That is the part I like most. A DAYDREAMER tee feels like a small piece of someone's music memory rather than a blank base layer. It has also gone on to work with the Rolling Stones archive and with Lee on a denim collaboration in 2023, which tells you the idea travels well.

The point, for me, is that a tee can carry a personal reference without asking the rest of the outfit to do the talking.

Music tees for the long way home

The Deviled Egg Burnout Vintage Tee and the Rub Antlers Burnout Vintage Tee have a worn-in, collectible feel, like something found in the back of a good thrift store. The Sun Records X Elvis Good Rockin Vintage Tee and the Stevie Nicks Bella Donna Off The Shoulder Tee make music history part of the outfit, and I would not fight them with much else.

For a quieter mood, the Big Sur Vintage Tee and the Middle Of Nowhere Solo Tee are easy anchors with straight-leg denim. The Pine Ridge Cubs Burnout Raglan Tee and the Touchdown Solo Tee nod to campus and game day, and the Campsite Scene Oversized Crew Sweatshirt and the Morgan Wallen Classic Eagle Oversized Crew Sweatshirt stretch the idea into a slouchier layer. The Blondie Magazine Burnout Vintage Tee and the Full Speed Auto Supply Burnout Vintage Long Sleeve Top are my two for people who like a little attitude.

Picture her taking the long way to a show in a faded tee, denim and a jacket she has owned for years. I would try a graphic with a slip skirt or an open button-down when I want some contrast. What I would skip: ordering an oversized cut without comparing the size chart to a tee you already love.

Why the graphic still feels personal

What keeps me interested is how a graphic can act like a small signal: a band you love, a town you remember, a joke you want to share with one other person in the room. Glover kept music memory close to the design from the start, and you can see it in the way the tees are made to look lived in. Picture a friend borrowing your sweatshirt after the show and keeping it for the drive home. That mix of humor, music and ordinary wear is where DAYDREAMER makes sense to me. If you want to keep going, Graphic Tees: Peanuts, Disney and Vintage Band Picks is the one I would read next.
