An early dinner edit of silk tops, soft knits and delicate necklaces. It is for evenings that feel social and a little dressed up without being formal.

An early dinner is the best kind of night out because you still have the whole evening afterward. I dress for it like this: a soft top that feels dressed up without trying, a necklace that catches the light, and shoes I can walk in. A silk satin piece is the easiest start. Vince's draped satin top and the Dorothee Schumacher shimmer top both look right with a pair of straight jeans.

 

When it is cooler I go for a knit, like the Veronica Beard Coralee, and add a David Yurman necklace to keep it polished. Retrofête's Indira top with a bow at the neck is the one I would wear to dinner with friends. For a lace touch, Velvet's lace-trimmed silk top works with a blazer over it.
