Easy Mix and Match

Simple clothes only work when they actually go together, so I build around a small group of neutrals and let each piece do two jobs. A cashmere crew from White & Warren or a silk cashmere V neck from Renggli works with straight jeans one day and a pleated trouser the next. Add a blazer, like the Madison Avenue from Favorite Daughter or a looser one from Lioness, and the same knit goes from the couch to a meeting.

 

I keep the extras easy: Reformation knit tops in brown and olive for color, a silk boat neck top for a clean line, and Paloma Wool when I want something a little more artful, like the soft gray top or the slouchy shoulder bag. Jeans from LE JEAN, Madewell and DL1961 keep the whole thing relaxed. Pick three tops, two bottoms and one blazer and you can build a week from them.
