Frenshe Is Ashley Tisdale's Wellness Habit, Bottled in Cashmere Vanilla

Being Frenshe came out of Ashley Tisdale's wellness platform and reached shelves in July 2022. This edit walks through the Frenshe body washes, lotions and oil in vanilla and lavender, the hair and body mists, and vanilla body care from other brands.

Frenshe began in 2020 as a wellness platform run by Ashley Tisdale, and in July 2022 it became a body care line called Being Frenshe, launching with 45 products in a single go. That is a big first move, and it tells you the idea was never one hero lotion. The idea was a whole bathroom routine that feels like a small ritual, something you do slowly at the end of a long day.

The scent that carries the brand is Cashmere Vanilla, which Tisdale has said was inspired by her love of jasmine rice. The notes listed for it are mandarin, amber, jasmine absolute and cedarwood, so it is warm and slightly creamy, not sugary. I find that a relief, because most vanilla body care goes straight to birthday cake.

The Cashmere Vanilla Body and Hair Oil with Shea Butter and Jojoba is the one I use on damp skin and through the ends of my hair. The Gel Body Wash in Cashmere Vanilla and the Renewing and Hydrating Clean Body Wash with Niacinamide in Floral Lavender Cloud are the two washes, one warmer and one calmer, which is a nice way to change the mood of the same shower. The Cashmere Vanilla Hydrating Milky Body Lotion with Coconut Oil and the Lavender Cloud version are light enough for summer and easy to layer.

The Hydrating Hand Serum Lotion with Squalane and Shea Butter, scented Cashmere Vanilla, lives on my desk. Choose your scent in the shower and stay with it through the lotion, and everything will smell coherent.

Mists, perfume and the scent that follows you

A scented mist is a small thing, and it is the one that people ask me about. Being Frenshe makes them for hair, body and linen, which means you can use the same bottle on a pillowcase and on your wrists without feeling silly.

The Cashmere Vanilla hair, body and linen mist body spray with Essential Oils is the obvious one, and I would start there if the shower products already smell like your home. The Desert Rose version is the alternative if vanilla feels heavy in summer. I keep one in the car and one by the bed, and there is nothing complicated about them. Spray from a hand's length away and let it settle before you dress.

The Women's Eau de Perfume in Moon Milk is the one I would call a proper fragrance. It is sold as a women's eau de perfume, so test it on skin and give it time before you decide. Perfume is always different on you than on paper.

Then there is the Frizz, Heat and Humidity protectant mist in Cashmere Vanilla, the practical one. It goes on before a blow dryer or a humid walk and is meant to protect hair from all three. A scented heat mist is a nice touch on a bad hair day, since it turns a chore into something you almost enjoy.

Vanilla, but not the one you know

Vanilla has become the default comfort scent, and I love that, but I also think it is worth knowing how different a vanilla can be from one bottle to the next. Here are eight from other brands, and none of them smells alike.

Josie Maran's In Bed body butter is a whipped argan oil butter in a refillable jar, pairing whipped vanilla milk with cashmere musk. It is the creamiest, sleepiest one. Summer Fridays' Body Butter Balm in Vanilla is a rich cream with hyaluronic acid, thick enough to feel like a balm on elbows and shins. By Rosie Jane's Dulce is a vanilla body milk, lighter and more everyday, the one I would pack in a gym bag.

Cyklar makes two of them: the Vanilla Verve Sensorial Body Wash for moisture barrier and the Vanilla Verve Nutrient-Rich Body Cream with niacinamide. Buy them as a pair, because the wash and cream together read like one product. Supergoop's Glow Oil SPF 50 is the outsider, a body oil with coconut, vanilla and fig for daytime, made for skin that is going outside.

What I would skip: layering three different vanillas on the same day. Scents that share a name do not always share a character, and the result can be muddled and heavy. Pick one warm base, add a lighter one over it if you like, and give yourself a break from fragrance in your hair and on your linens.

How I would wear it all

To wear it all without smelling like a candle shop, choose one scent family for the week and let it repeat. Wash, lotion, a spritz on the ends of your hair, and you are done for the day.

At night I like the lavender pair, because it is a softer scent to end the day on. In the morning I switch to the vanilla, and I keep the hand lotion in reach for the third and fourth hours of the workday, when hands get dry. Test any new body product on a small patch first, and let a perfume settle for an hour before you decide. A good routine should feel slow in time and light in effort, and this whole shelf is built for that. If you want to keep browsing, I also put together Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere by philosophy and Vanilla Crush.
