Garnet ring styles here span gold signets, solitaire and cocktail settings, diamond frames, and vermeil or sterling silver. I would choose the setting and metal before deciding how much red I want on my hand.

Garnet ring: From Roman Wax Seals to the Pinky Finger
Gold garnet rings
In 1899, in England, Charles Ricketts designed a gold ring set with a cabochon almandine garnet; it later belonged to May Morris. The V&A's ring has a high bezel shaped like a domed building. Garnet ring history has always allowed a little theater.
The name comes from medieval Latin granatus, meaning pomegranate; garnet is a group of minerals, not a single shade of red. I like the correction. The first group keeps its gold garnet rings in the red family, but the designs move from small signets to hearts, a curling serpent, and brushed gold.
The Mejuri Jude Pinky Signet sets a 6 by 6 mm cushion-cut garnet into a 7 mm-wide 14k yellow-gold top. Catbird's Great Heart Garnet places a 4 mm heart between two pearls and tiny diamonds; Astrid & Miyu's Serpent Wave curls garnet stones and clear pavé over 18k gold-plated recycled sterling silver. For one oval, Marco Bicego's Jaipur Color has a brushed 18k yellow-gold bezel, while The Lovery's beaded 14k band lets its 4.5 mm garnet sit alone.
I would put the strongest shape beside a plain knit cuff and leave the next finger bare. Before choosing the pinky signet, check the available size and compare its listed top width with the proportions you want; the Jude top is 7 mm, while Kendra Scott's Davie comes in sizes 5 through 12. I would also read the metal line closely: gold plating, vermeil over sterling silver, and solid gold are not interchangeable.

Garnet solitaire and cocktail rings
A wide face is a commitment to space around it, not a reason to pile on more settings.
One 14K yellow-gold cocktail ring pairs an emerald-cut garnet with a face about 0.63 inch wide; another uses three mixed-cut garnets and 0.26 total carats of diamond accents. Catbird's Vera Garnet Heart gathers twelve 2 mm stones into a 9-by-9 mm heart. Brilliant Earth's Andrea Moyo takes a simpler route, with one 7 mm round garnet above a 2.5 mm band. LAGOS's Rittenhouse Rhodolite Garnet Solitaire has a single red stone on a beaded silver-and-gold band.
Pair one statement ring with a plain band, or give it the whole hand. For a Garnet ring, I would check the face width against the fingers beside it and note whether the setting will catch a wool cuff.
What I would skip: the 0.63-inch face on a day when I need gloves or a close-fitting knit cuff. The smaller Andrea Moyo is a tidier alternative.

Garnet and diamond rings
Diamond framing changes the mood, but it doesn't tell me whether the center stone is a cabochon or a cut gem.
David Yurman's Chatelaine sets a 7 mm cushion-cut garnet between diamond-tipped prongs on a twisted 18K yellow-gold band. The Julianna B split shank puts an 8 by 6 mm garnet above forty diamonds; the Heart Infinity swaps in an 8 by 8 mm heart with forty-four round diamonds. Brilliant Earth's Cabaret makes an oval center the focus with scalloped pavé and 74 diamonds, while the 14K rose-gold halo ring frames a cabochon garnet with 0.28 ct of diamonds.
I would pair a diamond halo with a clean cuff or one plain band and check the prongs and underside of the setting before choosing. A ring with this much detail can feel dressed even with a white shirt.
What I would skip: a stack of competing diamond bands when the halo already gives the hand enough detail. I would let the shape do its job.

Garnet rings in vermeil and sterling silver
The metal description matters more than the word gold in the color line.
Mejuri's Organic Dôme Curve Gemstone Ring wraps an oval garnet in 18k gold vermeil, a 2.5-micron layer over 91% recycled sterling silver. Its Dôme Figure Balance uses a pear-cut garnet above open negative space, with 18k vermeil over recycled sterling silver. Astrid & Miyu's silver Serpent Wave is rhodium-plated recycled sterling silver with garnets and pavé crystals; Loren Stewart's Garbo keeps a single garnet low in 925 sterling silver. SIMUERO's Coco clusters garnets on polished 925 silver, while Armenta's Old World Garnet Lacy Band combines silver, 18k gold, garnet and diamonds.
For this group, I would decide between a cool silver tone, a warm gold layer, or both, then inspect the setting from the side. Wear an open silver curve with a crisp white shirt; let a cluster sit against a plain sweater.
What I would skip: a gold-vermeil finish if the rest of the hand is deliberately all silver. The mismatch can be intentional, but it shouldn't be accidental.

Choose by setting, then color
I would choose in this order: metal, setting height, then cut. The Mejuri signet is the most direct nod to the Roman wax-seal story; a solitaire makes the red stone quieter, while a heart or a pavé frame gives it a more decorative outline. If I want the ring to sit beside other pieces, I would start with one slim band and check that the settings don't crowd each other.
Care is simple, not casual: GIA says warm soapy water is safe for garnets and steam cleaning is not recommended. The gem's long ring history can stay in mind without turning the whole hand into a museum case.
