GUIZIO is Danielle Guizio's New York label of corsets, knits and cut-out dresses, built on sensual clothes with a firm hand. I like how it plays soft against sharp, and this edit is the dresses, skirts and tops I would start with.

GUIZIO Dresses & Skirts: Is It Worth It?
Danielle Guizio's small first chapter
I have a weakness for labels that began as a very small bet, and GUIZIO is exactly that. Danielle Guizio started it in New York in 2014 with a modest first run of graphic T-shirts, paid for with a tax refund. She studied fashion business, worked in retail, and then built the thing herself, which is a quiet kind of nerve I admire.
Her About page calls her self-taught, and the clothes read that way in the best sense: made from instinct, with New York subcultures somewhere in the back of the mind. Woven knits, structured suiting and corsets get shaped with asymmetry, ruching and the odd cut-out.
What I like most is that GUIZIO does not ask a woman to pick between soft and sharp. The early corsets and mini skirts made it a night-out name, but the same push and pull works in a knit or an open-neck top. Even the first sneaker collaboration, which sold out in minutes, tells you how far a T-shirt idea can travel.

Dresses with a point of view
The dresses carry the tension Guizio builds into the whole label: revealing and composed at once. The Koemi Sheer Panel Dress, Sequin Mini Dress and Leila Twill Dress each read like a different kind of night out, while the Nova Slip Mini Dress and Cowl Slip Mini Dress keep the conversation on neckline and length.
The Scarf Open Neck Dress and Grace Cowl Neck Mini Dress make you decide how much skin the evening needs before you pick shoes or a jacket. I like that this group holds distinct shapes instead of one dress in six colors. What I would skip: the sheer and sequined ones if you want something with no fuss at all.

Skirts that shift the mood
Skirts are where GUIZIO is easiest to turn up or down. The Jewels Skirt and Soffiano Skirt lean decorative, the Lana Skirt and Val Skirt are the cleaner starting points, and the Selene Midi Skirt breaks up all that mini energy. The Satin Mini Skirt and Eda Mini Skirt With Lace go back to the flirty side, and the Cargo Mini Skirt is the practical one.
Picture her in the cargo mini with a close knit top and flat shoes for a casual day, then swapping to a sharper top once evening comes. I would think about shoes and the rest of the day first, since a short hem changes the mood of an outfit fast. Skip a hemline you already know you fuss with.

A softer side of GUIZIO
Knitwear is the counterpoint to all those body-conscious dresses: a roomier layer loosens the line without losing the label's attitude. The Tullia Slouchy Cardigan, Hawley Sweater and The Sweet Cardigan are what I would compare first, since each promises a different kind of ease.
Picture her coming home from dinner in the sweater she wore over a skirt, instead of changing the whole outfit. I would pick a knit by the layer I actually need that day. If you want a sharply fitted top, leave the slouchy cardigan for another time.

Tops built around shape
This is the label's push and pull on a smaller canvas. The Marini Corset is the most structured starting point, and the Ara Top and Millie Top are the easier ones when I want less corsetry. The Dolce Pleated Button Up Top is a styling pivot, right there in the name.
I would build around one focal shape and keep the rest of the outfit simple, especially when the top is doing most of the talking. If you rarely reach for a close fit, do not force the corset to become an everyday basic.
Danielle Guizio, in her own words
I first heard Danielle Guizio tell her own story on The Burnouts podcast, and it changed how I look at every corset top here. She talked about starting with a tax refund and a tape measure, with no design training, no car and no connections, and walking bags of orders to the post office herself. She still fits every sample on her own body, which explains why these cuts sit the way they do.
If you like the downtown feeling of GUIZIO and want to see who sits next to it, we compared her with other New York labels in Brands Like Guizio: Downtown NYC Labels Compared.

Two ideas in one outfit
GUIZIO is at its strongest when a look holds two ideas at once: sensual and considered, playful and intentional. That tension runs from the debut tees to the signature corsets, but you do not need a dramatic dress to get it. A skirt, a knit and one well-shaped top can do the same work in a quieter voice. I would start with the part of my closet that feels too predictable, add one piece with a sharper line, and keep the rest mine. Although I suspect the corset will win.
