The Hello Sugar story is a good one: an advertising guy, a first space in Phoenix and a lot of curiosity about sugaring. Twelve products follow, from the salon's own aftercare to body-care picks from other labels.

Hello Sugar Started With a Founder Who Knew Nothing About Waxing
Hello Sugar has one of my favorite origin stories in beauty, mostly because the founder admits the obvious. Brigham Dallas started the company in February 2015 and says he knew nothing about waxing when he began. He came from advertising, opened his first esthetician-led space in Phoenix, and built the business on rented salon suites and online advertising. What he did know was that the idea felt right, and that people wanted a friendlier, more consistent waxing appointment. The salon also leans on sugaring, which the brand describes as a natural sugar paste. Hello Sugar now sells aftercare for the post-wax days between visits, and this edit starts there. Grid one is all its own: the I'm Over It ingrown hair serum, the Skin Armor hydration serum, a box of microneedle dart patches and an exfoliating glove. The brand describes each of them in its own words, and I stick to those. My habit is to put them in the order I would use them: glove in the shower, serum after, patch at night.

Before the appointment and after
The second grid is a small prep-and-recover kit from four different brands. Hello Sugar's Hurts Less numbing cream comes first, which the brand lists as 5 percent lidocaine, applied before an appointment. Read the label and ask your esthetician if you are unsure, because I am not qualified to advise on it. Luna Daily's mini oil is made from eight natural oils and is formulated to be used anywhere, including intimate skin. Skinfix brings a glycolic and lactic body scrub, and L'Occitane's mini almond oil is the soft finish. That oil has a real story: the founder Olivier Baussan began the company in 1976 by distilling rosemary in Provence, and the almond supple skin oil arrived in 2006. Keep the oil for last, once skin is calm.
Bumps, scrubs and a habit to skip
The third grid is body care that carries on after the wax. Nécessaire makes a fragrance-free peptide lotion, Skinfix returns with an AHA and BHA body cream, Josie Maran offers a Vanilla Vibezzz sugar scrub with argan oil, and Moroccanoil's night body serum goes on before bed. Moroccanoil has its own origin tale, since Carmen Tal first met argan oil at a salon in Tel Aviv after a bad color job. What I would skip is scrubbing straight after a wax. Skin has just been through something, so give it a day and start with the gentler cream. Then rotate the scrub in once or twice a week and see how your skin responds, and stop if it stings.
The routine that outlasts the wax
The point of an aftercare shelf is that it is boring. Nobody wants a twelve-step ritual for a ten-minute appointment. Choose one exfoliating step, one calming step and one moisturizing step, and repeat them until the next visit. Hello Sugar built its business on making the appointment feel easier, and the best thing you can do is make the days around it easy too. If you want to keep browsing, I also put together Tree Hut Body Scrub.
