Hudson Jeans Sizing: Does Hudson Jeans Run Small, Big or True to Size?

Hudson jeans do not have one universal fit: begin with the brand's size chart, then weigh each style's rise, stretch, and cut. This guide compares 12 women's fits, from straight legs to gauchos, wide legs, and bootcuts.

A chart, not a promise

Hudson jeans don't have one universal fit; start with the Hudson jeans size chart, then let each style's rise, stretch and cut guide the choice. Hudson's women's chart runs denim sizes 23 to 34 and maps them to numeric sizes 0 to 18, with letter sizes from XS through XL. It also lists waist and hip measurements in inches and centimeters, so I would compare the numbers rather than try to translate a size from another label by memory. Hudson's own denim guide separates the stretch choices: rigid is 100% cotton with no stretch and molds to the body over time; comfort stretch adds give, and super stretch is designed for flexibility and recovery. This matters more than the number alone. Nico Straight is explicitly described as running true to size, while Nordstrom says shoppers wanting a looser Noa Relaxed Gaucho should size up. The fits in this guide run from high rises to low-slung cuts and petite to long inseams, so the name Hudson cannot tell you how a pair will sit. My rule is simple: match your measurements to the chart, then check that style's rise and stretch notes before buying.

The straight and curved options

The straight jeans show how rise and stretch change the sizing answer. Kelli Loose Straight is low-rise, relaxed through the hip and built with 99% cotton and 1% elastane; its front rise is 9.25 inches and its 32-inch inseam gives it a longer line. Nico Straight is a mid-rise option with the same 9.25-inch front rise and 32-inch inseam, but Hudson says it runs true to size and uses super-stretch fabric for recovery. Remi High-Rise Straight moves the waist higher and the leg more relaxed; Nordstrom lists true comfort-stretch denim and a 30-inch inseam. Aria High Rise Soft Curve is the most shaped option here: Bloomingdale's calls it a curved silhouette, with an 11.5-inch rise and 29-inch regular inseam, and says it fits true to size. My practical tip: decide whether you like your denim close through the waist before you compare size numbers, then use the inseam to decide if you want to hem or crop.

Roomy cuts need length checks

The roomier cuts are where sizing by a chart alone can be misleading. Rosie Wide Leg on Hudson's site has a high waist, roomy leg and 10.25-inch front rise; its stretch denim has a 32-inch inseam. Noa Relaxed Gaucho is a relaxed mid-rise in rigid denim, and Nordstrom recommends sizing up if you want an even looser fit. Rosie Wide Leg Ankle is also roomy, but its 28-inch inseam and comfort-stretch fabric make it a cropped alternative; size 23 was marked only a few left when I checked. Jodie High Rise Loose Fit Wide Leg is the most structured pair here: Bloomingdale's describes the white jeans as non-stretch, with an 11.5-inch rise and 32-inch inseam, while still recommending a normal size. That's a good reminder that comfort and size advice are separate questions: rigid denim can be intended to fit true to size, or a retailer may tell you to size up for a slouchier look. Practical tip: compare the intended leg volume to your own favorite pair rather than assuming all wide-leg patterns fit the same.

Pick your bootcut proportion

Bootcut proportions offer the clearest choice between petite and long inseams. Barbara Bootcut Petite from Hudson is a high-rise, super-stretch shape with a 30-inch inseam and 10-inch front rise. Nordstrom's Beth Flap Pocket Baby Bootcut is described as low-rise, with comfort-stretch denim and a 35-inch inseam. Bloomingdale's Beth Faux Suede Low Rise Baby Bootcut sits lower, at 8.625 inches, and has a 34.5-inch inseam; its page says to order a normal size. The high-rise Barbara Bootcut in Rescue at Bloomingdale's rises 10.25 inches with a 34-inch inseam and is described as true to size in super-stretch denim. That is the sizing answer: use the chart for your baseline, then pick rise, stretch, and inseam for the fit you actually want. Shorter shoppers may prefer the petite Barbara; a shopper who wants bootcut with more length can compare the longer Beth and Rescue Barbara measurements. Check the specific length before you order, because bootcut by itself tells you nothing about where the hem will land.
