Hung Vanngo's own makeup line starts with skin

Hung Vanngo Beauty is the makeup artist's own line, shaped by decades of work in fashion and beauty. Born in Vietnam, he grew up in Calgary, moved to Toronto in 2003 and relocated to New York City in 2006.

 

His portfolio spans Vogue, Allure, ELLE, Harper's Bazaar and W, and The Wall Group lists photographers including Mert & Marcus and Craig McDean. The Wall Group also lists Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lawrence and Jennifer Lopez among his clients, so I start with the 38-shade Red Carpet Skin foundation.

The Color Story palettes are a clear introduction to Vanngo's approach: eight complementary shades in four finishes, grouped by color family. Allure named Hung Vanngo Beauty a One to Watch in its August 2025 review, ahead of the line's September 8 Sephora launch.

 

Vanngo Red was the first lipstick shade he created, in 2021, and it became the brand's signature red. I chose in-stock selections across his precision gel and creamy kohl eyeliners, then reserved the final grid for Creamy Matte Lipstick.
