Initio Parfums Privés launched Musk Therapy in 2021, as part of its Hedonist collection, and the brand's own description tells you what it is aiming for: "Creamy White Sandalwood fuses with an indulgent dose of White Musk and Pink Musk to create an addictive, velvety harmony." Bergamot, mandarin, white magnolia and blackcurrant sit on top of that base. It is a soft, creamy, skin-close kind of scent.

The house name comes from the Latin for beginning or initiation, and the Hedonist idea is well-being: the brand's own line is simply "Musk comforts." I like that it does not try to be loud. That is also why an Initio Musk Therapy dupe is such a natural thing to hunt for. The shape of the scent is easy to describe, and plenty of other labels work in the same family. Nobody can promise you a match, and I will not pretend to. This edit is about alternatives that share the creamy white musk idea, built on their own notes.

What I would skip: the sugary coconut and spice mists if you want the grown-up, magnolia-and-sandalwood calm. They lean more beach than spa.
