COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence is the bestseller that made a Seoul indie brand famous abroad. Here is the story of COSRX and eleven more products from the same shelf, from snail line companions to exfoliating liquids, a patch, a sunscreen and a cream.

Inside the Indie Brand Behind COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
COSRX took its name from two words, cosmetic and RX, the pharmacy shorthand for a prescription, and it has kept that slightly clinical tone since it was founded in 2013. Amorepacific, the Korean beauty group that now owns most of it, calls COSRX a first-generation indie brand that won attention overseas before it was widely known at home. The brand's own pitch is hypoallergenic skincare for sensitive skin, built around the Advanced Snail line and a newer line called The RX. The hero of the snail line is COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, which its listing says is 96.3 percent snail secretion filtrate. It is an essence you press in after cleansing, and the brand describes it as hydrating and soothing. I think its reputation rests less on any miracle and more on how easy it is to understand: mostly one ingredient, doing one job. Amorepacific says the essence has topped bestseller charts, especially in North America. What follows is that essence and eleven others from the same shelf, starting with its closest relatives.

Where the RX earns its place
Grid two is where the RX in the name earns its place. The Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser is a daily gel meant to cleanse without stripping. The BHA Blackhead Power Liquid pairs 4% betaine salicylate, a BHA, with 2% niacinamide, and the AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner uses 0.1% glycolic acid alongside betaine salicylate, according to the brand. The Low pH Soft Peeling Gel is the gentlest route, using cellulose and a PHA called lactobionic acid to exfoliate mildly. Exfoliating liquids are where I slow down. Patch test a new acid for seven to ten days on your inner arm, as the American Academy of Dermatology advises, because ingredients like glycolic acid can irritate, and wear sunscreen every morning. Use one exfoliant at a time, a couple of evenings a week at first.
The everyday supporting cast
Grid three is the supporting cast, and it is more useful than it sounds. The Full Fit Propolis Synergy Toner is a lightweight, hydrating toner the brand builds from 72.6 percent propolis extract and 10.7 percent honey extract. The Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream is the brand's moisture-lock step for sensitive skin. The Vitamin E Vitamin C Sunscreen SPF 50 is described as a daily sunscreen with no white cast, and the American Academy of Dermatology advises broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen every day. The Acne Pimple Master Patch is a hydrocolloid spot dressing that comes in three sizes.
What I would skip is pressing a pimple patch onto skin that still has moisturizer on it, because it will not hold. Use clean, dry skin, one patch, and leave it for as long as the pack says, then stop picking.
A simple order for the shelf
Here is the order I would use this shelf in. Cleanse, press in the essence or the propolis toner while skin is still damp, then the cream, and sunscreen last in the morning. Keep the acid liquids to a couple of evenings at first. COSRX built a following by making each step easy to name, and that is a good rule for a routine too: if you cannot say what a product is for, it probably does not need a slot. If you want to keep browsing, I also put together COSRX Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream and Essence Silky Blur Concealer and the Whole Blur Range.
