JADE SWIM Swimwear

JADE SWIM Swimwear

JADE Swim was launched in 2016 by Brittany Kozerski Freeney, a former senior market editor at Marie Claire who wanted a sleek, minimal alternative to the strappy, print heavy swimwear of the time. The label was founded in New York City, is designed in Palm Beach and is made in Los Angeles, with thick double lining that sculpts the body and solid colors that save water in production. This edit brings together her one pieces, bikini tops and bottoms and the easy beach separates that turn swimwear into a full outfit.

Collage of swimwear on sunlit beaches and by the water, in the spirit of JADE SWIM

The one pieces

I trust swimwear designed by someone who spent years as a fashion market editor, because she has seen every bad suit. Brittany Kozerski Freeney built JADE around clean necklines borrowed from the 1970s through the 1990s, and the one pieces are where that shows most. Square necks, ruched bandeaus, one shoulder cuts and simple scoops come lined inside and out, so they hold their shape. She designs them to work with a skirt or trousers as a top too, which is my favorite trick for a beach lunch.

Bikini tops

The tops are all about proportion rather than decoration. Metallic triangles, ruched bandeaus, beaded straps and a gingham scoop each do one thing well and then stop. Because the brand works almost entirely in solid colors, you can mix a top from one season with a bottom from another and it still looks intentional. What I would skip is matching a print to a print; the line is not built for that.

Bikini bottoms

High rise, cheeky, string and scooped bottoms in the same colors as the tops. I always size these with a little more coverage than I think I need for a long beach day, then keep a cheekier pair for the pool. The double lining makes even the minimal cuts feel secure.

Cover ups and beach separates

This is where JADE starts to look like ready to wear. Seersucker shirts and wide leg trousers, sheer pants and shorts, a sarong skirt and a cut out maxi dress take you from the water to dinner without a full outfit change. Pair any of them with a one piece worn as a bodysuit.

Sculpted one pieces in color

The one pieces keep coming in colors that feel like a mood rather than a trend. Olive, black, sunshine yellow, spring green, powder blue and a cream suit with black trim all keep the same clean, sculpting shape. I like the ruched yellow set for a day when I want the suit and the bandeau to match.

Triangles and bandeaus in warm shades

The tops lean into copper, cream, mauve, yellow and red. Beaded straps and a halter bandeau add a little detail while the triangles stay simple. Mix them freely with the bottoms below, since the whole palette is built to coordinate.

High rise bottoms in every tone

High rise bottoms in brown, cream, green, red and black sit next to a couple of simple string styles. The high rise cut gives a little more coverage and reads almost like a retro swim brief. I would pair a rich brown or red with a cream top for the most polished beach look.

Sarongs and wraps

A wrap skirt is the quickest way to turn a swimsuit into an outfit. These come tied in yellow, rust, taupe and copper, with longer versions in brown and white, plus a strapless cream top and a textured brown mini. Knot one low on the hip and keep everything else simple.

Trousers and shirts for the shore

Loose trousers in orange, red, butter yellow, white and black, a relaxed orange shirt and a wrap top complete the beach wardrobe. They are light enough for a hot afternoon and sharp enough for an early dinner. Try the orange shirt open over a one piece with the white trousers.

How I would wear it

Pick one sculpting one piece in a color you love and build the summer around it. JADE was made for women who want swimwear that feels as considered as the rest of their wardrobe, and it rewards that kind of restraint.
