Jaded London Tops: What I'd Actually Buy

Jaded London Tops: What I'd Actually Buy

Jaded London is the unisex London streetwear label two siblings built from graphic tees and a family clothing background. I like that it still has a rough edge, so this edit is the tops, dresses and night-out pieces I would pick first.

How the Goulden siblings built Jaded London

I have a weakness for a label that started with a skate park lookbook and never completely cleaned up its act. Jade and Grant Goulden started Jaded London in 2013, with fashion already in their orbit: their family worked in clothing manufacturing, and Jade had learned the buying side before the two of them launched the label. They began with 20 prints and a lookbook shot with friends in Camden, and that mix of polish and rough edges feels earned to me, not pasted on.

The unisex tees, sweats and hoodies grew into denim, partywear and outerwear, with a sequin bomber and a pair of parachute pants as the early viral moments. Jade looks after womenswear and Grant menswear, and it still feels like a family-built London label.

In these pieces I see the same appetite for a look with a point of view, whether it arrives as a sculpted lace-up top, a printed tee or a skirt edged in beads.

Tops that move from street to after dark

Jaded London's tops sit between streetwear and a late-night plan. The Double Knotted Top gives a grey base one gathered focal point, while the Longline Lace Up Halter Corset and Draped Lace Up Corset make their construction part of the look. I would balance either with straight-leg denim rather than another complicated layer. The Illusion Print Football Baby Tee is the sporty, graphic change of pace beside the corsets.

Picture her meeting friends in the Black Lace Multi Tie Top with low-key trousers and the ties left visible. My rule: if a top already has lace, knots or beads, skip the statement earrings and let the texture carry the outfit.

Dresses with a late-night point of view

These dresses play with scale and surface and do not ask for much else. The Mini Cowl Trim Dress keeps the shape short and neat, the Double Layered Dress hints at a second surface, and the Mesh Dress With Feather Edge makes the transparency and the trim the main event. The Plunge Dress With Maxi Sleeves is another route, an open neckline with a lot more sleeve.

In my fashion dreams she wears the yellow plunge dress to a late dinner, hair swept back so the neckline and sleeves can show. Before picking an underlayer for the mesh dress, I would look closely at how it is lined, then keep the shoes simple so the texture does the work.

Denim and trousers with room to move

The bottoms make two different arguments for volume. The Cooper Bootcut Jeans put a zebra print on a bootcut leg, while the Colossus Wide Leg Jeans trade pattern for a wider shape in a muted tone. The Pu Cooper Jean goes back to the bootcut in black. For a night out, the Sequin Mesh Drawstring Trousers leave denim behind for a sheer, embellished texture, and I would wear them with a plain black top instead of piling on more sparkle.

Picture her leaving a gallery opening in the Colossus jeans, a fitted lace-up top and a low heel. Whatever you pick, hold the hem up against the shoes you reach for most, especially with a bootcut or a wide leg.

Beaded minis and layers for the night out

This last group is the label's playful side: embellishment, short hems and unexpected layers. The Beaded Mini Skirt and Beaded Belt Asymmetric Skirt put texture and an angled line up front, and the Beaded Fringe Mini Skort is my pick when I want the movement of fringe with the ease of shorts. The Drummer Jacket has a tougher outerwear mood, while the Infinity Multiway Knit Cape is a softer, changeable layer. The Vaca Whipstitch Short is the warm-weather option, and the Draped Mini Dress With Ring Detail is a party dress with one small twist.

Picture her pairing the fringe skort with a plain tank for a summer concert. What I would skip is wearing two beaded pieces at once. Let one be the center of the outfit and keep everything else clean.

The London edge is still there

What keeps me interested in Jaded London is how clearly the family's streetwear start still shows, even when the piece is a corset or a feather-trim dress. There is always a tension between the uniform and the night-out outfit: a football tee next to beaded fringe, relaxed denim opposite sequinned mesh. Jade and Grant built a label around reading a moment quickly, and the London texture keeps it from feeling like a costume. I would begin with one piece that already feels like me, then let its print or shape set the rest of the evening. Although I know the fringe will want a say.
