Lauren Liess’s own shop brings together lighting, furniture, vintage rugs and tabletop pieces, with room photos to show how she lives with them.

Shop Lauren Liess lighting, furniture, vintage rugs and tabletop pieces, with a look inside the rooms behind her nature-minded design.

Who is Lauren Liess

Lauren Liess is the founder and principal designer of Lauren Liess Interiors in Great Falls, Virginia. She says she has been designing homes since 2007 and began her Pure Style Home blog in 2008, sharing clients’ projects and glimpses of her own home and life.

Her work has grown into product design, real estate and HGTV’s Best House on the Block. Across Habitat, Down to Earth and Feels Like Home, her books look at nature-inspired design, humble materials and the way home shapes daily life.

Why Lauren Liess homes feel made for living

In her own great room, Liess brought a porch and sunroom into the living area, shaping open space around a stone fireplace, wood beams and intimate seating and dining areas. I love that it feels composed but still personal, with useful furniture and the details of family life in view.

Her kitchen follows the same practical instinct. She planned it for a busy family and multiple cooks, pairing oak cabinetry and stone surfaces with places to gather. For a fall and winter home edit, I would begin with lighting or seating, then add a vintage rug and a few pieces for serving.

Where I would start with Lauren Liess’s style

I would begin with the room you already use every day. Give it one strong anchor, then layer in useful things that feel good to live with. That is the kind of home I want to come back to on a cold evening.
