Longline Ease

Longline Ease

An edit of midi and maxi dresses with extended hemlines and relaxed, fluid shapes. It is for anyone who wants a more directional outfit with very little effort.

Longline dressing is about letting the hem do the talking. A dress that skims past the knee or sweeps the ankle looks a little more directional than anything fitted, and it moves nicely when you walk. I look for a relaxed shape on top and some drama at the bottom, like the asymmetric hem on the Hervé Léger Esme or the drape on the Reiss occasion midi.

For a softer version, the Mango satin dresses and the Rails Vinka have an easy fall that works with flat boots. A.L.C.'s Nadia gown in emerald is the one I would wear when I want a single bold color, and the TWP wool dress in dark brown is great with a long coat. Simkhai's Maelle in ink blue is the sleeve length I reach for most, because it works from a desk to dinner without changing anything.
