Dark romantic lace, unexpected sheers and a bit of glimmer for a moody evening out. It is for anyone who dresses for the walk after dinner.

The best part of a late dinner is the walk home afterward, so I dress for that walk. Think dark lace, a little sheer, and one sparkle that only shows under a street light. Self Portrait's navy spiral lace dress does all of that, and Shoshanna's black Wells dress is the one I would pack for a cold city weekend.

 

I like to keep color to the wine and plum end of the range, like the RAILS Hollis dress with tall boots, or the Bardot lace midi in a deep red. Sheer layers help too: the Marcella bolero over a black tank turns any dress into something moodier. For shoes, a black slingback from Tony Bianco or Cinq à Sept keeps the line long and quiet. If a dress has some shine, like the Zimmermann halter, let it be the only thing that glimmers.
