MONSE Dresses and Tops

MONSE Dresses and Tops

Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia founded MONSE in 2015 after meeting at Oscar de la Renta, naming the label for Garcia's mother and building it around a looser, deconstructed take on men's shirting. They returned to Oscar de la Renta as co-creative directors in 2016 and stepped down in 2025 to focus fully on MONSE. This edit traces the label's playful tailoring through dresses, tops, skirts and outerwear.

Collage of runway looks, campaign shots and street style outfits that capture the MONSE mood

Dresses

MONSE's dresses are where the deconstruction idea has the most room to play, with asymmetric hems, front twists and fringe. Sequins and silk make even the draped jersey pieces feel dressed up.

Tops

Draped silk, a bandeau and twisted jersey tees keep the shirting spirit of the early collections in a looser form. I like how the asymmetry always seems intentional.

Skirts

Bubble minis, pencil silk midis and a fringed denim midi all take a classic skirt and turn one detail up. Garcia has described the label's language as deconstruction, stripes and bold colors.

Coats, jackets and a few more

A feathered coat, a pinstripe silk trench and fringed jackets sit with tulip dresses and a knotted top. The tailoring is where the duo's years at a heritage house are easiest to see.

Two designers, one label

Kim and Garcia worked together at Oscar de la Renta before launching MONSE, and that partnership has carried on as a studio of two. This edit shows a label that still looks like their shared sense of humor.
