Naeem Khan Dresses and Gowns

Naeem Khan Dresses and Gowns

Naeem Khan was born in Bareilly, raised in Mumbai, and grew up around a family embroidery business his grandfather started in the 1930s. He apprenticed under Halston in New York, launched a label called Riazee named after his mother, and launched his eponymous collection in 2003. This edit is built around the gowns and cocktail dresses that carry that embroidery heritage.

Collage of runway looks, campaign shots and street style outfits that capture the Naeem Khan mood

Gowns

Khan grew up around a family embroidery business, and the gowns here show how seriously he takes surface work. Beading, pearls, lace and chiffon florals are the main characters rather than decoration.

Cocktail dresses

The midi dresses bring the same hand with metallic raffia, cording and beaded florals into a shorter shape. They feel like the answer for anyone who wants the details without the full red carpet.

Gowns and boleros

Hand-beaded crepe, sequined lace and a set of boleros close out the edit. The boleros are a smart add-on, a way to wear a gown's drama in a smaller dose.

Gowns and cocktail dresses

Floral appliqué, sequins, raffia and beading make up the house's handwork vocabulary, and these gowns and cocktail dresses use all of it. Pick the one that feels like the entrance you want to make.

From Bombay to New York

Khan sources much of his embroidery from craftspeople in India and assembles his dresses in New York. That split between Indian handwork and New York finishing is the clearest throughline here.
