Nation Los Angeles is the Los Angeles label that grew out of one vintage-inspired cotton V-neck tee. I like it for soft, lived-in tops and knits that make getting dressed feel like no work at all.

Nation Los Angeles Tops: Everyday Pieces to Know
A Los Angeles tee that grew up
I will admit I trust any label that started with a single tee and never wandered far from it. Jen Menchaca founded Nation in Los Angeles in 2005 around a vintage-inspired cotton V-neck, the kind of shirt that feels familiar from the first wear. The label's own history tells of a fresh start in 2016 with a new creative direction and a deeper focus on responsibility, and of a change from Nation LTD to Nation Los Angeles in 2025, with the LA base staying put.
The clothes reach well beyond tees now, but the idea holds: a little character, and still easy to wear on an ordinary day. A production move to Peru gave the team a closer look at its supply chain, and an early sporty capsule built around tees, tanks, sweatshirts and shorts made the off-duty point of view very concrete. I can see the line from that to today's knits, easy tops and relaxed bottoms. Nothing here needs a plan. I would start with the neckline or texture that suits the day and keep the rest simple. I went deeper on a related idea in 1XBLUE Tops: Graphic Tanks and Tees to Know.

The tops that keep the label close to its roots
The tops are where Nation's roots show most. Deana Envelope Shirt in Porcelain keeps things clean, Alexi Off The Shoulder T-Shirt in Aurora Red brings a bare-shoulder line and a clear pop of color, and Terri Tank Top in Playa Stripe is a quiet stripe for a warm day. I also like Franz Sweatshirt in Vintage Khaki and Morganna Sweater Vest in Jet Black for the step between a tee and a proper layer.
Picture her in the Alexi with straight jeans and low sandals for dinner, then pulling on the Franz when the evening cools. Brenna Mock Neck Top and Neda Pleated Top are the two I would try when I want a little more shape, and Blair Ultra Deep V Tee is the nod back to that first V-neck. My practical note: the open neckline on the Alexi needs a jacket and underlayer you already trust, so try the combination before a long day out.

Knitwear and easy pieces for the hours around the plan
The same casual language runs through the knits, dresses and relaxed bottoms. Ashton Collared Pullover in Moonbeam Heather and Willow Pullover Sweater in Greenwich Navy Stripe have the easy knitwear mood I would wear over denim, and Jolie Sweater in Heather Grey is the quieter third. Carrer Sweater Dress in Marsala is the piece I would save for a cold dinner, and Sibelle Smocked Dress in Swirl Print is the playful daytime one.
Jake Sweatpants in Vintage Khaki and Scout Short in Loden bring everything back to real downtime. In my fashion dreams, I wear the Carrer with tall boots and a long coat, then change into the Jake sweats for the drive home. Check the sweater dress against the shoes you plan to wear, because the proportion changes fast.

The pieces I would order next
With this many tops and knits already on the page, I would use the rest to make the week feel complete. Gina Long Sleeve and Erica Top are two different ways to start a simple outfit, while Rene Luxe Turtleneck and Neo Turtleneck add a closer neckline for cooler mornings. On tank days, Erin Cami and Miranda Turtleneck Tank offer two levels of coverage. Frankie Luxe Tee, Loren Tee, Blair Tee, Goldie Tee and Alex Ribbed Tee live in my mental drawer as reliable first layers that should not have to carry a whole look alone.
The sweaters give the tops somewhere to go. I would reach for Tessa Cardigan or Lula Cardigan over a tee, then save Babette Sweater and Aisha Pullover for a colder stretch. Francesca Car Coat and Zoya Coat are the outer layers, while Clea Dress, Lyanna Midi Dress and Pietra Dress make getting dressed a one-piece decision. Maeve Cropped Sweatpant is the soft counterpoint, and Pietra Off Shoulder could turn a familiar denim outfit toward dinner.
Choose the base layer first, then check that the neckline works under the cardigan or coat. What I would skip on a very warm day is the extra sweater. Let one good top do the work.

The appeal of a useful favorite
I keep coming back to how plain Nation's first V-neck was: start with a useful shape, then let the fabric or neckline bring the personality. That instinct runs through every top, sweater and relaxed piece here, so getting dressed never turns into a project. I would pick one favorite top, add a knit for the cooler hours, and let the rest of the outfit be familiar. Although I will admit I would probably end up wearing the sweatpants more than the plan allowed.
