Neutral Contrast

Neutral Contrast

Dark and light neutrals paired so each outfit has contrast and no color. A guide to wearing cream, black and grey together in a way that stays clean.

Contrast without color is the easiest way I know to look put together. You put one light piece next to one dark piece and the outfit already has a point of view.

I like it best when the split is built into the clothes, like the Cinq à Sept Maesa pants with their white cuff or the French Connection Azra dress with its crisp white collar. For a looser version, wear Theory's black satin pants with a cream lace tank from Edikted. A grey trouser, such as the Citizens of Humanity Ines, looks sharp under the Eddie tank from L'AGENCE, and a white top over black trousers never fails. Add white sneakers, and I would keep the bag and jewelry quiet so the black and cream do the talking.
