OSSOU Denim: Structured Jeans and Soft Tailoring

OSSOU Denim: Structured Jeans and Soft Tailoring

OSSOU denim is built around structure: jeans first, then soft tailoring and useful layers. I go through the jeans, the quiet outer layers, and the shirting and knits.

Denim With Structure

OSSOU's jeans are built around familiar shapes, but the proportions keep them from feeling anonymous. The New York label was founded by Nina Khosla and Talia Shuvalov with a focus on rethinking wardrobe foundations, and its name comes from the Latin word for bone. Look for the wider legs, low rises, and washed neutrals when a basic pair needs a little more architecture.

Quiet Outer Layers

The coats and jackets give the denim a deliberate frame. OSSOU's launch collection was described as drawing on Western landscapes, with Japanese yarn-dyed denim made in Los Angeles and layers designed to sit alongside jeans. These are pieces for a long line and a restrained palette, not for collecting fussy details.

Shirting And Knits

Shirting and knits soften the collection without making it sweet. The brand's stated interest in durability and longevity is easiest to see here, where cotton shirts, wool, and cashmere-blend textures do the practical work. Wear them tucked into the denim or let one clean layer carry the outfit.

Our honest take

OSSOU is strongest when it stays close to its central idea: refined clothes with a visible backbone. Some silhouettes are intentionally roomy, so do not size up automatically unless you want the volume. If you take one thing away, choose the piece whose shape does the most work before adding anything else.
