Oversized but chic

Oversized but chic

Oversized tees, sweaters and shirts worn on purpose, for women who like a big top over a slim bottom. Tuck one corner, cuff the sleeve and you are done.

Oversized only looks chic when it looks chosen. I like the shape to be big on purpose, with a clean shoulder line and a hem that is long enough to mean it, then I keep the bottom half slim so the outfit has a point of view.

My formula is simple: tuck one corner, cuff the sleeve and wear jeans or a straight trouser. A white oversized tee from Sold Out NYC is the one I wear on repeat, and Reformation's Jo wool sweater does the same job when it is cold. For a softer day I reach for White & Warren's cashmere pullover or the Susana Monaco turtleneck in grey, both of which hold their shape. If you like a shirt, Hunza G's oversized black one works open over a tank, and Daily Drills makes a yellow thermal that brightens everything it touches. Size up one, not three, and check that the sleeve ends below your wrist bone.
