Partlow is a family story first. Kasey Lemkin and Lawren Sample grew up in Mississippi, and Lawren became a Los Angeles celebrity stylist while Kasey moved to Dallas as a luxury merchandiser. The label is named for their grandmother, Gigi Partlow of Plantersville, Mississippi, who ran a beauty salon in her backyard. They launched in the summer of 2023 with a clear goal, which was to take the kitsch out of the cowboy boot. The boots are handcrafted in the Veneto region of Italy, with a four-layer cushioned footbed, and each pair has a golden horseshoe on the back. The first collection was a set of riding boots named after the founders' friends, and the names have stayed personal, which is why the lineup reads like a guest list. The Katie western stiletto bootie, the Julia 55MM suede ankle boot and the Leigh Anne 90MM suede bootie are the shorter shapes. The Selena calfskin tall western boot and the Courtney 55MM slouch cowboy boot are the longer ones, and the Jojo and Cami are knee-high in suede. A simple fit test for a knee-high boot: it should sit just below the knee when you sit, so the leather does not pinch.
