Patti Wilson Stylist: The Editorial Eye Behind Fall Coats, Boots and Bags

Campaign styling, memorable fashion stories and fall designer pieces in the spirit of her expressive point of view.

Meet stylist Patti Wilson through her editorial work, then shop fall coats, statement layers, boots and bags from designers featured in her styling credits.

Who is Patti Wilson

Patti Wilson is a New York City stylist and fashion consultant whose work has appeared in Vogue Italia and V Magazine for decades. Her early Vogue Italia assignment opened doors to photographers including Peter Lindbergh, Steven Meisel, Steven Klein and David LaChapelle.

The CFDA honored her with the 2022 Media Award in honor of Eugenia Sheppard. In an interview, Wilson traced her appetite for scale to Catholic pageantry and the dress of the nuns who taught her. I see that boldness in the outerwear and textured layers chosen here.

Campaigns and pages in her styling credits

Wilson styled Beyoncé with Marni Senofonte for Tiffany & Co.’s 2022 “Lose Yourself in Love” campaign, and styled Billie Eilish for ELLE’s 2021 feature. She also styled Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for Vanity Fair in 2024, and a Sebastian Faena story for Vogue Italia in 2020.

Several designer labels in this edit appear in her credited shoots, including Erdem, Gucci, Junya Watanabe and Marni. I used those credits as a starting point, then chose current fall pieces with the same appetite for texture and shape. The four groups move from outerwear and separates to boots and bags.

Where I would start with Patti Wilson’s style

I would begin with the coat edit, then work a knit or strong jacket into the look rather than smoothing everything away. The boots bring the same weight to the ground, and the bags add a graphic finish. That mix feels closest to Wilson’s instinct for fashion that tells a story.
