PDRN Serum Is the K-Beauty Ingredient That Followed the Salmon Sperm Facial Online

K beauty PDRN serum jumped from an in-office injectable to a wall of serums that borrow the ingredient's name. I separate the ingredient from the promise, then pick formulas from ANUA, medicube and COSRX.

Separate the ingredient from the promise

Skincare trends arrive with a lot of borrowed authority, and PDRN is a good moment to separate an ingredient's medical history from what a bottle can reasonably promise. Judge a PDRN serum the way you would judge any other, by the full ingredient list and the texture you will actually use every night, not by the one-word claim on the label. Layer it onto clean skin before a heavier moisturizer, since a thin serum needs to sit under a richer layer rather than fight it for absorption. Whatever else is mixed in, whether a familiar humectant for hydration or a peptide with its own separate track record, weigh that second ingredient on its own record rather than assuming the headline ingredient carries it. No formula here needs a miracle story to earn a spot in your routine, since a good serum works on texture and consistency rather than borrowed authority.

A numbered collage of eight PDRN serums: Anua, medicube, COSRX, Centellian24, Mediheal, TIRTIR, Knours and Some By Mi.

Choose the formula, not the headline

The clearest example of where this ingredient came from is Rejuran. PharmaResearch, the Korean company behind the Rejuran injectable, launched a skincare line at Sephora in the US this March, built on what it calls c-PDRN, made from salmon DNA. The Turnover Ampoule and the Dual Effect Ampoule are the two heroes, both at 0.5% c-PDRN, and they are where I would start if you want the version closest to the clinic story. They are also the ones to be most realistic about. A serum is not an injection, and nothing on the label claims otherwise.

The rest of this grid is about what PDRN gets paired with. Innisfree mixes a green tea PDRN with retinol for firming, IOPE has a recovery serum and a caffeine shot for puffy mornings, and Medik8 makes a vegan version with exosomes. Beauty of Joseon uses a red bean PDRN with peptides for pores and is the easiest price to try. VT, Sungboon Editor, Dr.Reju-All and Candorlov make the more K-beauty-shelf versions, with ginseng, vitamins, copper peptides or micro-spicules doing a lot of the work.

A test I like: start one new serum at a time, every other night for two weeks, so you know which bottle your skin is answering to.

What I would skip: stacking a micro-spicule ampoule with retinol on the same night. Each one is plenty on its own. If you want to keep browsing, I also put together Anua PDRN, the Salmon DNA Serum Everyone Asks About and Why Everyone Is Talking About the medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum.
