A men's edit of oversized, quilted puffers built for real cold, from cream channel jackets to long padded parkas. For the guy who wants volume and warmth in one layer.

I think a puffer should look a little ridiculous in the best way, big baffles and a collar you can hide in. The cream channel puffer from PacSun is the one I would hand to anyone who says they never wear light colors, because it looks great with dark jeans and a brown knit. The black version does the same job with a hoodie underneath.

 

For real cold I like the longer shapes, like Alpha Industries' Altitude parka and Maison Kitsuné's padded parka in a deep green. Lululemon's stand neck quilted jacket and Polo Ralph Lauren's packable down jacket are the ones I would throw in a bag and forget about until the temperature drops. Barbour and Vuori bring the quilted side of the story for days when you want warmth without the volume. Try the sleeves over a chunky sweater before you buy, because that is where a puffer either works or does not.
