Polo Edit

The everyday polo in pique, knit and long sleeve, in navy, white, black and stone. It is for the guy who wants one shirt that goes with jeans or chinos.

A good polo does the work of three shirts. I wear mine with jeans on a Saturday, under a blazer when I want to look put together without a tie, and tucked into a chino for a dinner that does not call for a button-down. The trick is picking the right fabric for the moment.

For pique, I like the clean navy and white from Quince and Polo Ralph Lauren, the kind you can wash a hundred times. When it gets cooler, switch to a knit like Marine Layer's sweater polo or the J.Crew sweater polos, which sit nicely under an overcoat. Rhone's Drive Time is what I reach for when I will be moving around, and Vilebrequin's linen version is the one for a hot evening. Sunspel and Maison Kitsuné are for when you want something a little sharper in black or grey.
