Prada boots women actually reach for come in three families: the ankle boots and booties, the knee-high and tall pairs, and the lug-soled Monolith, biker and snow styles. This edit sorts them by shape and tells you how I would wear each one.
Prada Boots for Women: Ankle, Knee-High and Monolith, Sorted by Shape

Prada's story begins in 1913, when the first store opened in Milan, in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. More than a century later, the house is run by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons as co-creative directors, a role Simons has held since 2020, and the Prada Group says they hold equal responsibilities. I like knowing that, because Prada boots for women tend to carry both of those minds: something a little severe and clean, with a twist you notice only on the second look.
So this edit sorts the boots by shape, not by season, and the first group is the shortest one, the ankle boots and booties. This is where I would begin if you have never owned a pair. The Leather Ankle Boots with Zipper and the Leather Zipper Booties are the plainest versions, the sort that disappear under straight jeans and a trench. The Brushed Leather Chelsea Boots are the pair I would wear with cropped tailoring, because a pull-on boot with an elastic side sits neatly under a trouser hem.
For something softer, look at the Stretch Nappa Leather Booties, which come twice in this group, and the Nappa Leather Booties. Nappa and stretch both tell you the boot is meant to hug the ankle like a sock, so I would wear them under slim trousers or with a slip dress and bare legs. The Toblach Nappa Leather Booties are the one with a name worth remembering, and I would give them a look when the plain pairs start to feel too quiet.
Then there are the suede ones. The Suede Block Heel Ankle Boots, the Suede Booties, and the Suede Booties with Zip are the group I would pick for autumn weekends, with a wool skirt or wide-leg jeans. The plain Leather Booties and the Brushed Leather Booties fill in the rest, and the smart test is the same for all of them: sit down in them, stand up, and walk to the door. If the shaft pinches at the ankle bone, move on. Two newer pairs round out the group: the brown Suede Ankle Boots, a low-heel pull-on, and the black Leather Ankle Boots with the buckle strap and a kitten heel.

Knee-high and tall, for skirts and long coats
The second group is taller, and it asks more of what you wear it with. The Suede Knee High Boots and the Leather Knee Boots reach the top of the leg, which is the length I would pair with a short knit dress or a skirt that ends above the knee. Check where the shaft ends against your calf in the mirror. If the top edge lands at the widest part of your leg, try the next size or a different pair.
The Stretch Nappa Leather Boots and the Stretch Suede Boots are the ones I would look at first for a close fit. A stretch shaft moves with the leg, which means you can wear them under skinny trousers or with a bare-leg dress, and they should sit smoothly without sagging at the ankle. The Shearling-lined suede knee-high boots are the cosy pick for a coat that ends at the knee, and the Suede Western Boots are the pair with attitude, so I would keep everything else simple with them.
Then there are the plain Leather Boots in black, and the Suede Boots in brown. Tell them apart by the shaft height and the heel: some are flat and slim, some have a block heel. The Stivali and Re-Edition 1999 Equal knee boots are the dressier pair. Leather reads sharper. Suede reads softer and is a little fussier in bad weather, so I would save it for dry days.
A trick I like: wear your tall boots over slim trousers once, just in the fitting room, to see whether the shaft sits flat or bunches. If it bunches, keep these for skirts and dresses. If it sits smoothly, you have found a pair that works with everything you own.

The lug soles: Monolith, biker and snow
This is the group where Prada boots for women stop being polite. The Monolith has a chunky lug sole, and British Vogue reported in October 2019 that the boots were first seen on the autumn/winter 2019 menswear catwalk in January and again at the women's show in February. Vogue's shopping editor Naomi Smart called the Monolith a polished alternative to chunky boots and praised how well they ground summer dresses for year-round wear. I agree, and that is why I would wear the Monolith Leather ankle boots in black with a floaty dress.
Vogue's fashion market director Laura Ingham said she planned to wear the shorter leather Chelsea-style Monolith with high-waisted skirts and slouchy knits, and with tailored ankle-skimming trousers and blazers. That is the Monolith Brushed Leather Chelsea Boots here. The Monolith Stretch Nappa Boots and Booties are the sleeker pair, with the same sole under a smoother upper. The Monolith Leather And Re-Nylon Combat Boots With Pouch and the Leather-trimmed mesh combat boots are the roughest shapes here, the ones that read most like a combat boot.
Re-Nylon is worth a note. Prada announced it on June 24, 2019, a line of bags in ECONYL regenerated nylon, made with the textile yarn producer Aquafil. Prada says ECONYL is made from recycled plastic waste, including ocean plastic, fishing nets and textile fiber waste, and can be recycled indefinitely with no loss of quality. Per Prada Group, Re-Nylon expanded the following year into ready-to-wear, accessories and footwear, which is how it ended up in the Re-Nylon gabardine snow boots.
The biker boots come in brown: the Leather and canvas pair, the Stride leather, the Shard suede, the Logo suede and the Logo leather. They have a slouchier shaft and a rugged look, and I would wear them with straight denim and a soft shirt.
The Down-Quilted Nylon Ankle Boots, the Monolith Shearling-Trimmed Leather Boots and the Shearling-lined suede ankle boots are the warm end of this group, and the Monolith Leather and Nylon Combat Boots are the closest to the first pair. The Leather Mid-Calf Boots, the Suede Boots and the Suede Mid-Calf Boots with the buckle are biker boots too, so they sit with the other brown pairs.
What I would skip: wearing the snow boots or the lug soles as a promise of dry feet in a storm, since the names describe the shape and the sole, not a weather rating. I would also skip pairing a heavy lug sole with a very narrow skirt, because the sole will look larger than the hem.

How I would choose a pair
Here is how I would choose. Start with the trousers you wear most, and match the boot to the hem. Straight jeans and tailoring want an ankle boot or Chelsea. Skirts and slip dresses want a knee-high or mid-calf pair. Everything casual and heavy wants a lug sole.
Then check the finish. Leather boots last longer if you clean and condition them now and then, and if they get wet, let them dry away from heat with newspaper inside.
Prada has long made a point of putting utilitarian things into fashion. The London Evening Standard reports that in 1984 Miuccia Prada launched a backpack made from Pocono nylon, an industrial fabric made in a factory that made parachutes. Prada describes nylon as an emblem of the brand, a challenge to convention that lifts utilitarian materials into fashion. I think of that every time I see a Re-Nylon boot, and I keep the idea in mind when I pick: wear the plain pair on Monday, and the heavy one when you want to feel a bit braver. If you want to keep browsing, I also put together Suede Boots Worth the Money and Brown Suede Boots.
