The prairie dress is a specific piece of engineering rather than a vague romantic mood. It puts volume at the sleeve and the hem and takes it out at the waist or the yoke, which is why it reads as soft while still showing a shape. What we do instead is keep the dress and make everything else plain: a flat leather sandal, no jewellery at the neck, a bag with a hard edge to it.
