Rare Beauty Bronzer Stick: Warm Wishes and Cream Stick Rivals

The Rare Beauty bronzer stick is Warm Wishes, a liquid-like cream bronzer in stick form. I pair it with eight Rare Beauty cheek and complexion picks and other cream bronzer sticks.

Magazine-style product test page with five cut-out products and a best-for note on each: Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Warm Wishes Effortless Cream Bronzer Stick; Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Pinch Liquid Blush; Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Pinch Liquid Contour; Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight; Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Melting Bronzing & Sculpting Stick

Selena Gomez, Rare Beauty and a Bronzer Stick

Rare Beauty is the mission-driven brand founded and created by Selena Gomez, and according to its launch press release the first products arrived in the United States, Canada and Mexico on September 3, 2020. From the start, 1% of everything the brand sells has gone to the Rare Impact Fund, which says it aims to mobilize $100 million in philanthropic funding. That is a real part of how the brand talks about itself, and it is why the packaging and shade names lean soft and personal.

The rare beauty warm wishes effortless bronzer stick came later. Rare Beauty describes it as an innovative liquid-like cream bronzer in a stick that melts into skin for a believable, sun-kissed warmth. It is water-resistant and, in the brand's words, will not cake, crease or clog pores. It comes in eight shades, from Power Boost, a true tan with neutral undertones, to light and medium browns. A UK review from early 2022 lists it in five shades, so the range has grown.

The first grid is eight Rare Beauty cheek and complexion picks, from blush to highlighter to concealer. The second grid is eight more cream bronzer sticks to compare. My tip: swipe the stick on the high points of your face, then blend with fingers while the cream is still warm.

More Rare Beauty for Cheeks and Skin

Start with the stick itself. Warm Wishes Effortless Cream Bronzer Stick in Power Boost is a light-coverage, natural-finish stick, and it is vegan. Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez keeps the whole family in one shade language, so the stick sits easily beside the blushes.

Soft Pinch Liquid Blush is the community favorite, a weightless liquid with high-impact color from one dot and a flush that lasts up to 12 hours. Soft Pinch Luminous Powder Blush is the pressed version, glowy and buildable, here in Cheer, Selena's custom shade. Stay Vulnerable Melting Cream Blush is a liquid-like cream with a satin finish and light coverage, and it suits dry, combination and normal skin.

For shape and shine, Soft Pinch Liquid Contour is a weightless, easy-to-blend contour with a natural finish. Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight is a silky, second-skin liquid with a soft luminous finish, and Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter is the powder version that gives a glass-like sheen. Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer is lightweight and hydrating, with cake-free, medium-to-full coverage and a radiant finish.

I would layer these in one order. Concealer first, then liquid blush and contour, then the bronzer, and highlighter last.

What I would skip: both highlighters on textured skin if you do not want shine to catch the texture. The liquid blush on its own will give you color without sparkle.

Eight More Cream Bronzer Sticks

For a matte, shimmer-free warmth, MILK MAKEUP Creamy Matte Bronzer Stick has hyaluronic acid and ceramides, and Makeup By Mario SoftSculpt is a dual-ended cream contour and bronzer stick with a matte finish and buildable coverage. NARS The Multiple Sculpting Contour & Bronzing Stick is a matte multipurpose stick with up to 16 hours of wear and peach kernel oil.

For glow and hydration, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil is a creamy, buildable stick with vitamin E and squalane for natural warmth. DIOR Forever Skin Bronze is an ultra-melting balm with a natural, sunkissed effect, hydrating and comfortable. Ogee Sculpted Cream is light coverage with a radiant finish, made with olive oil, beeswax and jojoba. LYS Beauty No Limits is a clean, talc-free bronzer with rosehip oil, and it is the full-coverage one.

Freck Beauty FACE HACK is the small one, a plant-derived cream contour bronzer with squalane and moringa oil, in a shade called Deep Dark here.

To compare them, swipe two on the back of your hand in the same light, a few inches apart. See which melts more evenly and which one you can still blend after thirty seconds.

What I would skip: the matte, full-coverage sticks if you want a sunlit glow. They are made for contour, not for warmth alone, and on a light complexion they can look heavy fast.

Warmth You Can Blend

I think a stick bronzer is the friendliest format for someone who is nervous about bronzer. You can see where it goes, you control the amount, and you can blend with your fingers. The Rare Beauty stick is the soft choice, and the second grid shows how far the category goes, from matte contour to radiant balm. Pick the one that melts best on your skin, keep it small enough for your bag, and swipe it on before the powder, not after. If it starts to drag, warm it with your fingertip first. That small step makes the cream move like it should. If you want to keep browsing, I also put together Maybelline Mascara Sky High, Lined Up Against Lancôme, Prada and Rare Beauty and Makeup Brands We Love. For a different finish, I compared powders against creams in my guide to the best bronzer, from Chanel to Hoola.
