Silk Slip Dresses

Silk Slip Dresses

Slip dresses in silk and satin, in chocolate, honey, wine and a few brighter shades. Wear them alone at dusk or layered under a linen shirt at noon.

A slip dress looks best when the fabric does the talking. Liquid satin and silk catch light as you move, so I keep the cut simple and let the color carry it. Chocolate, honey and wine are my favorites, and they feel richer than the usual black or white. I went deeper on a related idea in Slip Dresses in Satin and Silk.

The brown satin Lovers and Friends gown and the three Reformation silks on this page are the ones I would wear first, each with bare shoulders and flat sandals at dusk. EAVES makes a red maxi that stops a room, and L'AGENCE has a floral slip that works over a white tee at lunch. Comme Si's bias cut drapes beautifully with a boxy blazer, and Petite Plume gives you a lace trimmed slip to layer under a linen shirt. Try the length with the shoes you plan to wear before you decide. If you want to keep going, Carine Gilson Dresses: Lace Incrustation on Silk Satin is the one I would read next.
