Sister NY is a New York label that began with swimsuits Michelle Jacobs made for her sister and friends. It now makes rompers, pants and skirts in prints I would happily let lead the whole outfit.

Sister NY Jumpsuits: The Pieces Worth the Price
The sister behind the name
I like a label that starts without a grand thesis, and Sister NY is exactly that. In 2017 Michelle Jacobs began making swimsuits for her sister and friends, and that grew into a New York vacationwear label. Her own story names her as founder and designer, inspired by her sister Kelley Maslanka. That feels close to how I think about getting dressed: start with someone you know, then make pieces that help her feel like herself.
Sister NY works best where romantic and relaxed meet. The label loves vintage nostalgia, classic shapes, unexpected prints and carefully chosen fabrics, with silhouettes for day and night. I see that in the rompers and trousers, where a print leads, and in the skort and short skirt, which change the pace without losing the playful mood.
Jacobs worked in fashion houses and showrooms before building the label, and I think you can tell. The Sister NY outfit I want is the one that feels personal before it feels dressed up.

Prints that change the pace
Sister NY's sweet spot is a print that can carry a whole look, cut so there is room for a real afternoon. The Vivi Romper in Harbor Stripe is my easy one-piece starting point, the Bette Romper in Black White Check is the sharper graphic, and the Piper Romper rounds out the group. For separates, the Morgan Pant puts the pattern up front, and I would pair it with a plain ribbed tee. The Bloomer Pant and Jacqueline Pant are the calmer options.
Picture her stepping off the train for a long lunch in the Bette Romper and a flat sandal, a light layer over her shoulder. My rule for a bold print is to pick one accessory color that already appears in it and stop there. What I would skip: a second pattern on top. The Ruby Skort in Leopard follows the same simple styling.

A little sisterhood in every look
What I keep from Sister NY is how small it started. A sister, a few friends and clothes made for the women who would actually wear them is a lovely beginning for a label that now reaches well past that first circle. The Carter Skort, Valeria Jacket and Lou Lou Dress are all easy places to start. I would pick the piece that makes me smile and keep the rest of the outfit quiet, although I suspect the Ruby Skirt would end up in the bag too.
