Founded in 2016 by Steven Van Alen and based in Scottsdale, Arizona, Sleepyhead began with a college dorm problem: an uncomfortable mattress and a need for better rest. I’m drawn to the way its sleep-first design pairs practical comfort with thoughtful materials, from gel- and copper-infused toppers to washable covers and college-specific sizes. Today, the collection includes mattresses and small wind-down essentials, with one throughline: helping students rest easy and make the most of their potential.

Sleepyhead USA
Dorm-room comfort and better sleep, designed for every chapter

Comfort from the first dorm bed onward
Sleepyhead’s cooling Gel Topper and gel-and-copper Super Topper are the foundation of a more comfortable dorm setup. The Super Mattress in Twin and Twin XL offers a full-bed option designed to carry that comfort into a room of your own. A CoolTech 2.0 Replacement Topper Cover keeps a favorite topper fresh, while the Mulberry Silk Sleep Mask and Sleepyhead Eyemask make room for an easier wind-down. And for an easy-to-give upgrade, the Sleepyhead Digital Gift Card lets students choose the sleep essentials that fit their space.
A better-bed lineup
Cooling toppers and a mattress meet a fresh replacement cover, two sleep masks, and a gift card for a more personal sleep setup.

A student-first idea, through every chapter
Sleepyhead’s point of view is simple: great sleep can unlock student potential. The brand began with founder Steven Van Alen’s own frustration with a dorm mattress and a desire to make campus beds more comfortable. I like that the mission stays optimistic and practical, pairing everyday peace of mind with the belief that students are the now—not just the future.
