Soft Cargo

A men's guide to soft-wash cargo pants and shorts in washed olive, stone and brown. Wear them with plain tops and clean sneakers for an easy everyday look.

Cargo pants used to feel stiff and a little too workwear to me, and the soft versions fix all of that. The fabric is washed, the leg is relaxed, and the colors stay in olive, stone and brown. The Levi's Extra Baggy Cargo in green and the Carhartt WIP Kade in a stone wash are the two I would start with, since both sit easily over sneakers.

 

For something quieter, Stone Island's ripstop pair in coal grey and the Alpha Industries ACU in hickory keep the pockets but lose the bulk. Wear them with a plain crewneck or a washed hoodie, then add the Closed cargo jacket when it cools off. Keep the top half simple and let the pants do the work.
