Solace London makes evening clothes that understand the power of a clean line. Founded in 2013 by Laura Taylor and Ryan Holliday-Stevens, the label grew from a friendship and a shared desire to make the kind of clothes they could not find elsewhere. Gowns in crepe, satin and twill keep the drama focused, with shape doing most of the work.

Gowns With a Clear Line
Laura Taylor and Ryan Holliday-Stevens founded Solace London in 2013 after meeting through the Northern English nightlife and boutique scene. They began by making pieces that felt a little different but still possible to wear, and that tension remains in the halternecks, one-shoulder lines and strapless gowns here. Satin, crepe and twill are gathered and folded so the fabric creates the movement rather than relying on decoration. The result is evening dressing with a clear silhouette and enough room for the wearer to remain visible.

Our honest take
Our honest take: Solace London is best when the cut is allowed to carry the entire evening. It is not a label for people who want a dress to disappear into the room, but it is thoughtful enough to avoid costume. If you take one thing away, decide where you want the eye to land, then let the rest of the gown stay quiet.
