Star of the room

Menswear for people who want to look sharp without trying too hard, built on soft knits, wool trousers, a good watch and a few small details. It is for the guy who gets noticed quietly.

Dressing well for a room full of people comes down to a few quiet pieces that look like you tried a little. I start with a good knit, like the navy McTavish merino or the green rib crew from Les Deux, and wear it over a white tee with tailored trousers in wool.

Universal Works makes a herringbone pleated pant with a drawstring feel that is easy to wear all night, and Theory's black Mayer pair goes with everything I own. A Shinola Runwell watch with a tan strap gives the outfit one warm detail, and a thin chain from LOUPN or a MAPLE bracelet adds a little shine. On colder walks home I add the Alex Mill work jacket or a Filson beanie, and nobody notices the effort.
