Baggy pleated trousers, oversized shirts, sweatshirts and a plaid coat for the grandpa aesthetic. It is for anyone who likes layered, roomy outfits.

The slouch look is borrowed from your grandfather's closet: pleated trousers with room in them, a big coat, a sweatshirt that has been washed a hundred times. I like to keep the proportions loose on purpose and let the colors stay quiet. Helmut Lang's wide double pleat trousers and the olive Tibi pair are the ones I would start with, then a brown R13 corduroy for when the weather turns.

 

On top, a striped shirt worn open over a tee, or the brown college sweatshirt from THE GREAT., does the job. Add Zara's oversized plaid coat and a stripy knit and you have the whole grandpa layering idea. Finish with flat shoes, like the Common Projects derby, so the outfit stays relaxed and a little undone.
